will do i imagine. People often forget Ron when talking about Englands great keepers but from what I've heard he was right up there with Gordon Banks at the time

I remember hearing several years ago they awarded him with his World Cup winners medal 40 years after the fact as the non playing members didn't receive.
That must've been nice for him.

Sad news. Never saw him play but my dad always used to tell me he was far better than his brother Peter who I did see play. Unique transfer when we sold Ron to QPR and part of the deal was his brother Peter coming the other way, not sure we will ever see that happen again.
RIP Ron.

Possibly our greatest post-war keeper has died after a short illness.
Ron Springett made 384 appearances between the posts for the Owls from 1958–1967. He also kept 33 times for England and was understudy to Gordon Banks for the 1966 World Cup. RIP Ron, our thoughts are with his family at this time. ![]() http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015...es-aged-80 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34238414

As with others, I may have seen him play but can't recall anything pre '67 and the centenary celebrations but RIP Ron

Saw him play every week. The greatest. A real legend. R.I. P. Ron. You were a class act.
