Sheffield Wednesday are trying to offload Lavery to us.

Ok the Lavery thing was just a rumour it's not happening.

Well, there we are then. The window is now firmly latched and bolted and SM is still with us - until the New Year at least.

A very upbeat statement on the club website by CT, which I hope bears fruit. I know that`s just pr, as you would expect, but I do happen to think that we have a squad that can compete at this level and, barring injuries and suspensions, I`ll be disappointed if we`re not firmly in the top half of the table by the end of the year. I`m not allowing myself to hope for any more than that!

Lee Novak has been released by Birmingham City.

I've heard that Novak guy's decent .

Released ones I wouldn't consider .

Reda Johnson

And basically any others that have been released by League one clubs and are over 30

Simply on the principle if they were any good nowadays they wouldn't be released .

Not sure about Tom Anderson's situation but I would imagine we will be at least enquiring .

McSheffrey did well in his short time with us could be a good midfielder to link up with Liddle, I would like to see him back. I reckon Tom Anderson will be released by Burnley and I read that Declan John could be released from Cardiff.

Grant Holt is 35, he's experienced but should we look at younger players?

Reda Johnson would be a great signing.

If we could afford to get Novak I would. Basically I'm with Pooch, if older players are being released by clubs at our level or lower it usually means it's time for the knacker's yard.

Surely it would depend on who we are releasing before we could consider Declan John. If Jones is staying and fit, if Donohue is staying, why sign John?

I thought we should have gone in for Reda Johnson when he went to Coventry, but what would we do with him now with Evatt and Hird (and Raglan) on the books? Anderson's the right age at least.

Seems obvious Liddle needs a young, vibrant partner in midfield, not an OAP.

Was Grant Holt a joke, or a dire warning?
