Bit late on this thread...
I used to know JV to talk to. I was in a choir with his gorgeous, American, first wife. She was the one who earned the money, since she worked for an international bank, and he dragged her off to South Africa when he wanted to become a heavyweight foreign correspondent for Auntie. Joburg where all the politics went on wasn't a nice place to have to transfer to from London and Jeremy spent three or so years travelling all over Africa, so it wasn't a surprise when they divorced.
