So we enter the second week of the season having seen us comfortably win the first 2 games in the opening week.  While we should have been expected to win both games in reality it was the manner of the performances that I think has given a bit more optimism to us fans to go along with the anticipation and excitement we already had for this season.  It seems we are intent on attacking sides, getting the ball out wide to pepper in crosses and supporting the lone striker from midfield, something we haven't done since our promotion year from the Pub League!!

This game should on paper provide a much sterner test for us, not only being the first away game but being against a team that we are looking to replace as a playoff team as well.  This game will give us a good idea as to how CC intends to play away from home.  Will he stick to 433 or will he revert to a more solid and slightly more defensive 451 and try to use the wingers to counter attack??  One thing is probably for sure, we won't line up 442!!!!  Thumb up

OUR TEAM

There were 9 changes between the starting line-ups over the first two games so in total 20 players have so far started games!!  Having said that I do expect the team from Saturday to be virtually unchanged from the opening day team, with maybe the exception being Wiggins coming in for Helan, a move that is bound to happen at some point anyway.  Nuhiu will be feeling the pressure after Joao's performance in midweek and that can only be good news for the team as a whole!! The following is my prediction for the opening line-up:

Westwood

Hunt  Loovens  Lees  Wiggins

McGugan  Hutchinson  Lopez

Wallace  Nuhiu  Matias

THE OPPOSITION - IPSWICH TOWN

Ipswich got into the playoffs last season, losing 4-2 on aggregate to Norwich in the semi finals.  I am sure they will be looking to be in the mix again this season.  The bulk of their team from last season is still there but they did lose LB Tyrone Mings to Bournemouth but got a surprising 8m in return!!! Doh  McCarthy always has his team well organized and they probably have more height than us for set pieces, so we will need to watch for that!!

Our head to head against them P45, W17, D11, L17, so honours even.  This fixture seems to go in phases where one team has a distinct upper hand over a period of time.  Currently it is in their favor with us having only 1 win in the last 12 meetings with  them winning 5 times.  Having said that one of our best results in recent years came at Portman Road in October 2012 when a brace from Ross Barkley and a goal from Antonio gave us a nice 3-0 win!!   Our record at Portman Road specifically is W9, D3 L11, so again not great, but as we know this is a new Wednesday regime and team so hopefully what happened in the past is no indicator of what will happen in this one!!

The Bastard in the Black is James Linington from Newport. Our record with this clown is:

Feb 15 - Millwall 1-3 OWLS - 2Y
Aug 14 - Brighton 0-1 OWLS - 4Y 1R
Mar 13 - OWLS 0-2 Cardiff - 5Y
Jan 12 - MK Dons 1-1 OWLS - 4Y
Aug 11 - OWLS 3-2 Scunthorpe - 1Y
Nov 10 - OWLS 3-0 Walsall - 4Y
Mar 10 - OWLS 0-0 Derby - 2Y

P7 W4 D2 L1

So this referee seems to be quite lucky for us. Coincidentally, he refereed our first away match last season where he sent off a Brighton player as we won 1-0.
