Bodes well for our squad that we were able to make 9 changes to the team on Saturday and still run out easy winners.  That team we put out tonight with Westwood in goal would do well in the Championship as well, good to see real strength  in depth!!

Three or four of them are first choice but arrived too late for Satdi. Wiggins, Sago and Joe are definitely first 11 starters Thumb up

I agree with Wiggins and Joao, but not sure Sougou is currently ahead of either Matais or Wallace, but I really hope he pushes both of  them all the way!!  I do think Nuhiu will come back into the team at Ipswich with Joao getting another 30 mins as a sub, but on the basis of what we heard tonight its probably just a matter of time before their roles are switched.

Harry Maguire misses a penalty for Hull in the shoot out but Hull scrape though in the end. Nearly a third of the Championship teams go out with some still to play.

This game would normally have been a banana skin for us. Out of the 6 shots on target we scored 4, these are the kinds of ratios that will get us through the season just fine.

It's nice to have played two games so far and not struggled or made such hard work of teams, that shouldn't be hard work with the kind of squad we now have.

If we don't take at least a point from Ipswich it would be very surprising.

Second good performance of the season. 10 changes from Saturdays team i think but you would never have guessed it.

Wildsmith 5 - made two half decent stops but at fault for their goal. High hanging corner headed in from 5 yards. Should have been his ball. Andy Rhodes was furious on the touch line.

Palmer 7 - slotted back in easily. Linked well with Sougou and attacked with purpose
Lees 7 - rock solid again
Sasso 5 - gave the ball away at least five times and looked hesitant in the tackle, must improve
Wiggins 7 - looked like he'd been playing there for years. Promising start.

Semedo 8 - quality performance, wanted the ball and kept us ticking over. Great run for his goal

Lopez 8 - I didn't rate him as highly as others on Saturday but he showed his class tonight. So much time on the ball and his vision is something we haven't seen for a long time. Always in space and never wastes possession. Takes a great set piece and will comfortably be our leading assist maker this year.
Lee 8 - one of his best performances in a blue and white shirt. Got forward in the new formation and seems to be inspired by Lopez alongside him. Great calm finish for the goal

Lavery 5 - not his night. Fluffed his one chance
Sougou 8 - great debut. Two good feet, tricky, strong and pacy. Looks a real find. Created one and scores another

Joao 9 - I don't want to get too excited because we were playing Mansfield but he was absolutely superb. Turned their CB's time and time again. Nearly scored a wonder goal when dribbling from the half way line. Bullet header early on, made Lee's goal. Another exciting talent.

Helen again impressed and looks a new player, Hutch buzzed around and got stuck in. Matias keeps missing chances but is technically excellent and the goals will come.

Same formation again but as last week it changed as the game progressed. At times, he encourages the full backs on and drops the deep CM to make a back three. It swaps and changes and the little differences confuse the opposition. The players seem to have taken to it easily and it is bringing out the best in them. Good win, very tough game now at Ipswich.

Exciting times!!

Nice report Consilio and pretty much mirrors what we were listening to as well. To correct you it was 9 changes to Saturday's team with Lees and Lopez starting both games. If Matias keeps getting in these great positions he will score a hat full for us this season, just a matter of time before one goes in!!

Of course the best news of the night for you was you won the Attendance Prediction so get an early Smartass to start the season!!!

About time I won one of those.

9 changes, you are right, as always! Wink

So, in the last 3 games we have scored 11 goals with 9 different scorers. Even with vermijl now gone that's still a good distribution of players and its only a matter of time for matias and lopez and others like wallace to chip in some too.

Opposing managers are going to be screwed if they insist on double teaming Nuhui or Joao as part of their defence. !!! Then we still have potential to add more attacking speed from the bench in the last 20-30 minutes of games.

Kin ell, is this Wednesday we're talking about ??? .

Its only two games and we need to keep calm and stay firmly planted on the ground, we can let Owlstalk spout crap about pissing the league and all that hyperbole, but as you say Washington is is a very encouraging start to the season!! Of course we have only played a recent League one team and a league 2 team but both have been dispatched with relative ease. Ipswich will pose a much more serious threat to our good start to the season but I expect CC will have a few surprises for Mick!! Its great to see us have a coach who is capable of changing things around to suit the situation and also having a bunch of players who seem to be able to respond to what he wants, he seems to really understand the game and that is so refreshing!! Of course it won't work all the time but I do think we will stay in the top half comfortably if we keep going like this.

Don't base too much on LC Round One matches but that was comfortable.

With nine changes, we looked outstanding, admittedly against a L2 side. We conceded a goal due to a keeper error but otherwise, it was a breeze.

Wildsmith - 5 - good catches & stops apart from the goal
Palmer - 6 - solid but a touch rash into the tackle
Lees - 6 - easy evening
Sasso - 6 - a bit nervy at times
Wiggins - 6 - bold play but needs time to settle
Semedo - 7 - solid & a goal
Lopez - 8 - another influential performance
Lee - 7 - looked better with better players around him & better tactics
Lavery - 4 - never got to the pace of the game
Joao - 9 - mustn't get carried away and heap expectation on future Wednesday Legend & Ballon d'Or winner
Sougou - 8 - lively & dangerous
.................................................................
Matias - 7 - gets in great positions, missed a couple of chances but when he finds his radar.......
Hutchinson - 6
Helan - 6

Already Hutchinson, Helan & Lee look 25% better than last season. Maybe it is better coaching. Maybe it is better tactics.

Not getting carried away yet but our results have been in line with my expectations but the performances have been better. Saturday will be a tough early test of our credentials. There will be blips along the way but I think we are getting there.
