Thanks Stairs I did ask the question earlier in the thread, who it was booing McClean and if it was our own fans, like you say it was an absolute disgrace. When a player steps out in the blue and White he is Albion, as we are Albion.

We are all entitled to our political beliefs, just the same as he is and as long as he "no longer" brings them to work then than is fine by me.  He is an Albion player and until he brings the club into disrepute (as Odem-whingy did, with less personal abuse from the fans) I will judge him as a player and not as a politician.

Please folks lets keep this to the issue of whether it is right to boo your own players on their debut and not get back into the discussion about the troubles in N.I. which mostly happened years before this guy was even born.

"On a related note, did you guys hear about Alan Parry last night? Apparently in his Sky commentary he called McClean a 'Northern Irishman from Londonderry.' A pretty shameless and unprofessional attempt to troll McClean."

The commentator who kept saying we played in "Black & White stripes" was doing a pretty good job of trolling as well.  Where do they get these people from?

If we're going to spend 8 million on a defender, why didn't we spend it on an actual right back? Wouldn't it make sense to spend 8 mill on a right back rather than a CB and shove them right back? It makes no sense. I'm glad we signed Chester but he is a fantastic CB not a right back, he looked so out of place I felt sorry for him. McLean is bloody awful, no wonder we was the only prem club interested in him.

Gardner - Fletcher - Morrison - McClean

If I ever see that midfield line-up again - barring a major injury crisis - then I will lose all faith in Pulis. Thankfully, I doubt I ever will. It is so flat and boring it borders on embarrassing, it is why many neutrals seem to see us as one of the most irrelevant clubs in the league. If we are going 442 we need a box-to-box destroyer in the mould of Yaya Toure. The powderpuff partnership of Fletcher and Morrison will see us lose the majority of midfield battles as most PL clubs have a 5-man midfield. As for Gardner, he should be a squad player covering for injuries and suspensions in the centre of midfield, not as our starting right mid where he is shown up to be the below average footballer that he is.

If we play 442: Gnabry - Fletcher - New Signing - McClean/New Signing

If we play 4231: --------- Yacob - Fletcher
------------------Gnabry - Sess/Mozza/New Signing - Berahino/New Signing

We played 442 with Yacob and Fletcher in the middle quite a lot in the 2nd half of last season and it worked quite well.

I must agree, it is ok for TP to hold his hand up to his alleged error in playing Lambert and Saido together instead of flooding the midfield.... that wasn’t the problem. It wasn’t the number of midfielders but the poor quality and ineffectiveness of his starting line up.

We could have got away with four midfielders if one of them was Yacob breaking up the play. What I find most disturbing is TP has effectively given notice he will not play Lambert and Saido together again.

I feel we are in for another season of heartache with mindboggling tactical decisions and boring stalemate football.

As poor as we were at times yesterday Man City looked superb. Athletic, skilfull and most importantly a speed of thought that costs millions of pounds. Plus points - Lambert is a quality centre forward! Bera looked hungry and is the only player we have that would sit happily in the Man City squad....gonna cost you £25-30 million tho!! After that.....not alot. But I don't think we can judge either team on that display! COYB

Is McClean not a Northern Irishman from 'Derry then?

He is exactly that, so I don't see what was shameless and unprofessional about what Alan Parry was saying.

I think what he said was he won't play with 2 up top against a top 6 side - understandable I think!
