Might as well open this thread now, as SCO and I have been discussing Alloa Athletic today (in the St Mirren thread).
From that thread, our ineffective record last Season against the Wasps.

Really can't get much worse than last seasons record against them, so this becomes a real opportunity to truly put yourself ahead of where you were last season!!!

If Friday is anything to go by, then the team going to Alloa will not resemble last years, so I doubt that last seasons results are of any use in deciding what will happen.
It will still be a test of them to go to a relatively small club and ground and play the game they want to and be motivated as they were in front of 50k fans ....... If they do well in this game I will be more than hopeful of the outcome we, the Rangers fans want over the season. if they can do it by playing exciting football then that is to be welcomed with open arms. For too long now, Gers have played insipid football, and it is refreshing to have a manager who wants (nay, insists) on playing it in a footballing manner.

The great thing is that the fans are buying into his ideals, even being patient and accepting that there will be a few bumps along the way.
It's the work ethos in the side that's even more pleasing, we have a squad that is more than happy to graft for each other.

Biggest problem we'll have with Alloa is their pitch, described on Radio Scotland this weekend as 'the worst artificial surface in Scottish football'.

Oh yeah, a 1-0 defeat away from home and somebody will him and Weir burnt at the stake.
1-0 defeat at home will be worse.
But the vast majority appear to be inside.

I think it's worth remembering that we haven't seen Warburton's side play away to a smaller side. Going back to our first few matches in 2012/13 we were battering teams at home but it took 5 attempts to win away. Now I expect Warburton to do better than Ally, but it can be difficult to get in behind teams at smaller grounds, and we've suffered from being hit on the break a hell of a lot in recent years. Whatever you say about our current side I don't think it can be denied that we leave ourselves exposed to just that threat with our style of play.
Hopefully we'll get the win at Alloa and that'll give us the confidence to go to these places and do our thing.
