I liked Emerson Thome, but he didn't stick around very long. Had a soft spot for Sibon but he was left as the only decent player in a poor team.
All time favorite was Roland Nilsson, the ultimate professional with a game to back it up as well. Probably the best right back we have ever had and probably the most underrated player to play for us.
Most exciting signing for me was Carbone, I thought he had a ton of skill, although his attitude sometimes let him down. Loved watching Di Canio but he was a knob.
Worst signing was for me was Wim Jonk!!

Roland Nillson for me as Chas said best Right Back at the time and also commitment.
Worst one was Di Canio as Maaddix said start of our decline.

Best - Roland Nilsson but Charlie nicked that so I'll go with Di Canio. Probably the most technically gifted player we've ever had. A game changer, at times unplayable, class act.
Worst - So many. Rudi and Blinker immediately spring to mind but my least favourite and the biggest disappointment was Wim Jonk. I thought we'd signed a world class midfielder. In reality we signed an uninterested, injury prone, overpaid and overrated midfield plodder.

Best - Nilsson, Thom, Harkes, Alexxanderson and Carbone (until PDC arrived)
Worst - Ingerson, Di Canio, Blinker, Jonk
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Di Canio is a difficult one. I remember going to every game excited at the prospect of what he would do. He was magical to watch, a true star in terms of ability but after the Alcock fiasco he let us down badly. Legendary player but not a legend!!

Best - Nilsson & Harkes and Di Canio (psychopathic genius)
Worst - Blondeau, Wim Jonk, De Bilde
Nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so. For glory gives herself only to those who have always dreamed of her.
