It beats me why people call Peace "Scrooge".
There aren't Millions in the Bank - what we've earned we've spent.
Same every year. I wonder whether all Clubs' fans do the same.

"Scrooge" has revolutionised our Club over twelve years or so and kept us solvent. He's now put us on the brink of a possible major change. I'm mindful of being careful what you wish for.

What's 'Scrooge' ever done for WBA, eh?

Apart from 8 years in the Prem... Thumb up

...and a Grade 'A' academy...

...state of the art training facilities?...

...always finishing above Wolves....

Just playing devil's advocate as we could have had far worse than Pearce.

8 years, I assume you must be totalling the number of years we have spent in the premiership( I thought is was about 10 though), as wasn't our last promotion in 09/10 season (playing in the Premiership for the 10/11 season).  So to count 8 years in the Greed league you would also have to say in that short time, JP preceded over at least two relegations and gone through around 9 managers.

Grade A academy, OK but so far, apart from Berahino what has it actually achieved for our club?   I am sure Chelsea are glad we have one.

In all honesty, I am not to sure how our training facilities compare with those of other premiership clubs.

As for finishing above Wo1ve5 was it because JP is a inspiring chairman or because Wo1ve5 are just Sh1t

Don't actual hold to much of this other than Wo1ve5 being sh1t of course but bored of no football matters to discuss Smile

We have been very lucky to have a chairman, fan and owner the like of JP, he took over when we were a lower division two club (old money), starved of anything to cheer apart from one promotion from division three under Ozzie. He ended 16 years of top flight exile, yes there have been ups and downs, some minor cup runs, a balanced bank account, a few seasons as the top dog in the west mids, no multi multi million pound transfers but a stable well run club with a sound business plan, yes football is now just another business, we are on the verge of a 150+ million pound takeover not a tenner like the outfit down the road. As others have said be careful what you wish for. And remember, the futures bright, the future is blue and white. We know what we are ........ PRIDE OF THE MIDLANDS.
Come on you Baggies

Strange comments Mr RainbowTurnedEastStand (if indeed that is your real name Whistle )

Don't think anyone on here has said Peace is a saint, in fact the anger and disbelief spewed in his direction is a constant each transfer window and managerial appointment of late (and I include myself in that)

Whilst I stand by my criticism of him when it's warranted I also appreciate the good he's done for Albion.

We could easily be a struggling Championship side BUT we're not and surely some thanks for that has got to go to J. Scrooge McPeace?

Why don't you explain what you mean rather than insulting people (just a thought)
I can go a step higher than Aston Villa

I'll be pleasantly surprised if a reasoned response is forthcoming, Willie.

Its pretty much a fruitless debate because the pro JP camp can point to what DID happen and justify their argument by well we are a well run "financially" club which I do not think anyone can argue with.

The anti JP camp can and will argue what might have been and as it didn't happen it is pure speculation, with no evidence either way.

The only other fact we can be sure of is this "lifelong fan" is going to walk away with more than a £100 million pounds profit he will have made from the club.

Does that sound like he ran it as a football club or a money making venture? I will leave that to the debating team Smile

If the Club should sell for the sort of figure being spoken of that would surely be a mark of the Chairman's successful leadership, wouldn't it?  Would you rather he'd been unsuccessful?
