Dean Saunders has made Sylvan Ebanks-Blake his first signing as Chesterfield manager.

The 29-year-old striker, whose short-term contract at Preston expired at the end of the season, played under Saunders at Wolves.

The Spireites boss told the official website: "Sylvan is just what the team needs.

Already know Turkey its on the 'It's quiet' thread. He was top goalscorer 2 seasons in a row in the Championship when he played for Wolves but has been a bit injury prone in the last few seasons he made 9 appearances for Ipswich without scoring a goal and only scored 1 goal in 9 appearances for Preston.

He was at Manchester United at the same time Tommy Lee was so that probably swayed the deal. I wonder what would have happened if Tommy Lee made the 1st team at United, would he have played for England?

Apparently we are interested in another Ilkeston player called Callum Chettle. He's played for the England C team and is the youngest player to make an appearance for Ilkeston. His dad Steve Chettle played at Notts Forest with Saunders and Crossley. Callum Chettle was on Forests books when he was younger but was released and now Forest are interested in him again apparently.

Well if Forest are interested again his dad will probably send him there ...... but he'd be more likely to get chances with us.

I'd definitely sign his dad as defensive cover .......

His names been bandied about for a while .I think he is in demand so would be a bit of a coup to get him.

Leeds are after Tendayi Darikwa and they are confident that they will sign him today.

So Leeds and apparently Preston are now interested in Tendayi Darikwa so that could be interesting, rumour going around that Leeds have offered £800,000 and a 3 year contract for him. I thought Leeds had a transfer embargo and they were skint? Moyes wanted Darikwa a few seasons ago for United so will Real Sociedad make a bid?

Rumour going around that Wigan are going to come back and try and snatch Clucas. Portsmouth and the Gary Roberts saga has gone all quiet yet the Pompey fans are being needy by tweeting him like a guy who hasn't had response off a girl he texted. Other rumour going around that Oxford are after Ian Evatt.

I'm still convinced Darikwa would be a bargain signing for a lot of clubs at £1million! He thrives on hard work!

Derby, if they want promotion, have spent seasons only twenty miles or so away, he'd be a great signing for them. Forest could take him home. Higher up, McClaren saw him play .... and play well and Newcastle will apparently lose Janmaat their right back. And Villa ... isn't he better than their full backs?

Personally I don't see how we can keep him. Dancing will collapse laughing, but Tendayi's worth way more than teams are talking about if we could play our cards really cleverly. But it is a sign we cannot expect to hold on to all our current crop. On the other hand we shouldn't let Clucas or Morsy go to a team in our current division. If they go higher it's career progression ..... but Wigan, is that a good move for anyone right now?

As for Oxford. We can't send Evatt there. To that tit of a manager? He deserves better. I think there's another season in him, with Raglan and Hird we could any two from three.

Wigan and Scunthorpe are both after to Clucas but Wigan at the moment seem to be leading the race. Wigan offered us £250k for Clucas a few weeks ago but we turned it down as we want nearer a million. Mansfield have a sell on clause I think I heard it was 15% that's what there fans are saying but they say that our ground is owned by Tesco so wouldn't believe anything they say.

If we let him go to either of those clubs we have seriously lost our heads.

Scunthorpe is a club with not much in a town with not much more. Wigan was a nice gift to a beloved grandson, but now the days of Martinez are behind them it's downhill all the way for rugby league's poor relation.

I imagine Clucas might go, but I can't imagine him going there. Can you? Would you?
