Looks like we dodged a big bullet not signing Jonathan Biabiany, Best of luck to him though:

Parma have suffered a blow after the club revealed French winger Jonathan Biabiany has been ruled out indefinitely due to a heart problem.

Biabiany, one of the club's most influential players, was diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia on 1 September, a day after playing for the Serie A side in a 1-0 defeat to promoted Cesena. He has since been sidelined indefinitely, according to club sports director Leonardo Spiega speaking on the club's official website.

"Jonathan was diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia on 1 September. It is the first time we've seen this in any of our fitness tests," said Spiega. "Consequently, he has undergone several tests and on the basis of these, following consultation with external specialists, we decided he should not play for a limited period of time.

"During this time the player will be monitored and then subjected to further tests before resuming any kind of competition."

Coincidentally, one of Biabiany's team-mates, Antonio Cassano, suffered a heart problem in 2011 while he was a player with AC Milan. Cassano was diagnosed with an atrial septal defect in his heart and underwent an operation under local anaesthetic in November 2011 which allowed him to continue his career.

Parma, meanwhile, could also be without defender Mattia Cassani following diagnosis of a back problem. Spiega said that he "risks undergoing an operation that could keep him out for three to four months."

Parma, who sit second bottom of Serie A following two defeats, are away at Chievo on Sunday.

Feel sorry for the lad.

As someone who has the same complaint I am in a good position to sympathise. However as I am in my 70's my footballing days are long since past. This lad still needs to make a living somehow.

Seems to me like we have dodged two bullets bearing in mind what has happened to Thorpe since he moved to Derby.
