As posted on the development thread, Anthony Gerrard and Martin Paterson played for 60 minutes as senior players in the U21 team against Crewe.
Do you think they'll get a place in the first team and, if so, who will they replace? Should they?

Where as Pato hasn't been that great he did score a few goals last season and I genuinely do nit think he is as bad as some fans make out. I would deffo give him a spot on the bench on Saturday given we're pretty low on strikers, although I'm not saying he is the answer to our attacking issues.

Trouble with Paterson is that sometimes he looks like he doesn't care or want to put the effort in. He is a good striker though and yes, definitely should be on the bench if fit enough.
Same with Gezza. Bench if fit. Wallace to start on Saturday if Lynch is out.

When fit yes.
Gerrard was by far our best centre back last season and a back 3 of Gerrard,Hudson and Lynch wouldn't upset me, neither would a flat back 4 of Peltier,Hudson,Gerrard and Lynch.
As for Paterson, he's nowhere near as bad as a lot of fans made him out to be. Yes he didn't score many at the start of the season but then again with him and Vaughan upfront at that time we were playing well and winning games. Ultimately we see strikers as a failure if they don't score goals but that is not always the case and the start of last season showed that Paterson was doing alright and creating space and chances for his strike partner to score the goals

I think Paterson might thrive in the system Powell seems to be developing. While not huge, he is clearly a player whose strength is in his strength, and aerial ability.
Instead of dipping straight into to loan market, he has to be worth a look.
