What do we want from the Blackpool inquiry?
#1
So the Board of the Football League are meeting on Thursday May 14th to decide the result of our recently abandoned away fixture at Blackpool FC.
The question for you, dear Town fans, is what do we want Huddersfield Town's representatives at this hearing to tell the FL what we demand as an outcome from this meeting? Just concerning us, not interested in what fine or anything that's given to Blackpool.
There are, as I see it, three options.

1. The FL stick with UEFA guidelines for abandoned fixtures and award us, the innocent party, a 3-0 win. Thus giving us three points to go above and finish the season ahead of Leeds United for the first time since 1961.

2. The FL state that the result should stand as it was when the game was abandoned, ie a 0-0 draw, meaning we stay behind Leeds.

3. The FL decide to end the season with us and Blackpool only fulfilling 45 fixtures and leave the league table as it is.

So do you want option 1? Or do you think that getting above the Dirties in this way would be a hollow victory?

Or don't you give two hoots about it and let's forget the whole thing?

You guys have to be awarded a 3-0 win. Don't give two hoots whether you finish above L**ds or not for obvious reasons but that should be the standard outcome. No way can they leave the table with only 45 games completed for both teams, that would be a nonsense. They also need to make an example of Blackpool in some way to deter this from happening for more sinister reasons in the future.

Dont forget oysten is on the fl board. Wont be in when they decide. But they wont want to upset him.

The whole football league is corrupt.

Can I change my vote to couldn't give a toss. Couldn't get a fag paper between that and "Played 45" for me. I find too many want the 3pts just to finish above Leeds. How hollow would that be. And 0 - 0 would just open a future can of worms for sure. Oh I dunno!!!  Doh

Well I think they have to send out a message. Town win has to be the result. Otherwise it's anarchy.

Quite right, Snooty. The offending side loses 0-3 and their opponents get 3 points. And if the offending side happened to lose out on relegation/promotion, tough! It would serve them right.

I for one couldn't care less about being in front of Leeds and I'll be paying the extra £3, whether we get the 3 points or not.

I've found the whole issue rather depressing - especially after seeing footage of the 'demonstration'- and can see why people just want to forget the whole business. However to ignore it would set a bad precedent which could be used as a defence by others in the future. Therefore I go for a  0-3 win and three points to us as the innocent and offended party. This should set a firm and sound precedent to warn that such actions by home fans can harm the home club and, if applied consistently, would let everyone  be forewarned of the consequences of such actions in future. [I see it would also move us up the table as well!]

Spot on, Highland. Any such decision must be applied rigorously without favour.

The points have to be awarded to Town....and I'm not buying this hollow victory if we finish above L666s rubbish.
We still had another 42 minutes plus injury time to get a goal against the worst team in the league with the worst defence.
We would have won that game if it had gone to the end....so for me it's not a hollow victory...it's a deserved victory taken away from us due to Blackpool fans.

When they hand us the 3pts, which is what will happen I think, give 'em a good tap and listen to the echo. Hollow I tell ya.  Big Grin
