Needs must tho, IMO, gotta be seen as a real bonus point, and may prove to be a very crucial one too ![]()

Neither side really created any clear-cut chances, so the draw was a fair result all in all. Very good point ground out by another solid clean sheet.
Don't rate him but have to say Dawson played well with quality pacey players running at him. Again Brunty was very good on the other side so full credit? Apart from one heart in the mouth moment when Myhill kicked the ball straight at a Pool player I thought he was great with a few really good saves...how lucky are we to have a 2nd keeper of such quality ! Useless up front though. Vic can be a beast coming off the bench but never does the business when starting for some strange reason. How good is Fletcher ? Another top game by him and Mozza is working his socks off. Thought we played like we do away today with a clean sheet the ultimate goal but would have settled for a point before kick off so happy days. Good point, clean sheet and games running out for the teams below us. C O Y B ?

Good point. Couldn't fault the defending and effort.
McManaman was a bright spark when he came on. The guy was direct and defenders don't like that. Made a change to see someone just going at the Liverpool back line rather than just playing the safe pass. Our passing and movement really does leave a lot to be desired though. I realise that our plan was to counter, but when we struggle to execute simple 10 year balls or jog a few yards forward to create an angle for a pass, it really does lead to a lot more pressure on our defence than they should be under. Looks like it's going to be tight with some of the bottom sides really scrapping. Newcastle is going to be a big one...

It's a good point. Bring on Newcastle - nothing to fear there.

I was tempted to back Liverpool 3-0 at 19/1, and even upto 75 mins I thought it still would be.
"It's a good point." Thoroughly agree - it's a bloody good POINT! However...... that was the worst 90 mins of football I've witnessed from an Albion side. (My mate said you should have been here for the last 2 games.) It was absolutely dreadful and embarrassing. Great defending - ok - but my mate who's a 10-year Away Season Tkt holder said he's not renewing (Away) next season. "Who would want to pay best part of £100 to watch your team park the bus, eventually get 20% of the ball, then give it away just as quickly?" I read one paper said we achieved 58% pass accuracy!!! 58%!!! That's what you'd expect in an under-9s match. And I found myself appauding a well-earned throw-in, because my hand had gone to sleep. Honestly, if it wasn't for McManaman's efforts late in the game I'd have slashed my wrists in front of the Albion Dug-out.
My position on this is that TP is doing a job this season. The job is to retain Premiership status and regardless what people think he will do it in a workman like fashion until mathematically certain. I have absolutely no problem with that.
Then we have the summer dealings. This is what shapes next season. Decisions on whether to buy a season ticket can't be made until the new squad takes shape. We will have a very different team come September. What they might play like is another matter all together! |
