WBA vs Liverpool - Match Thread

Lose the matches you expect to win and win the matches you expect to lose.  That's always been the golden rule for Albion, and in recent weeks we've lived up to it in sterling fashion.  But it's difficult to decide what we should be expecting this weekend as we welcome a Liverpool side who sit 6th in the form table and 5th in the actual table, yet have lost three of their last four games including a shockingly uninspired FA Cup outing against Villa (and yes, we know exactly how that feels).  The team which came within a whisker of winning last season's Premier League with the dream strike partnership of Suarez & Sturridge have been huffing and puffing through 2015 relying on the erratic Raheem Sterling, the ageing Steven Gerrard and a few wonderstrikes from Philippe Coutinho to prop them up.  Of course, that's still considerably more raw talent than Albion currently boast, but all the same, it's clear that Liverpool can be stifled with a good performance.

Are we likely to see such a performance?  Last week's win eased a lot of the lingering concerns about relegation, and with Liverpool undoubtedly wanting to "bounce back" following their cup disappointment, it could be that the Reds will simply show up with more desire and fight than Albion this weekend.  Of course, I hope that's not the case; our survival hasn't quite been rubber-stamped yet, and crossing the 40-point line should really be the objective for any club serious about their Premier League status.  As ever, we leave it in the hands of the players; a draw would be a great result for us in this one.

Last Saturday home game of the season where's the time gone! They say time fly's when your having fun but most of it has been very depressing/boring/negative (add your own words lol)
At least it looks like there's light at the end of the tunnel though hopefully next season Pulis can turn the Hawthorns into a fortress

Seeing as we never beat who we SHOULD beat, and very often do pretty well against the better teams, this is a stone cold 'cert'.

Or not.... agree with Ska'd that a draw would be a good result for us and I think that's what it'll be, subject to us turning up for the first time in 3 home games of course Dodgy

It's amazing what football does to you, especially being a supporter of my beloved West Bromwich Albion.

I am still nervous as I always look at the worst case scenario of other teams having an amazing run in and us finishing in the bottom three, HOWEVER that win against Palace has lifted the whole club. Thumb up

I think we will get something out of the Liverpool game and am going 2-1 Albion or possibly a 2-2, they havn't really had all the rub of the green against us in last few seasons have they? Huh

I still want the magic 40 points or beyond, then maybe I can relax a little Cool

COYB Thumb up Thumb up Thumb up

It's not so much worrying as just hoping that we'll get some momentum together as the season ends. I hated it last year when we confirmed our mathematical survival and just rolled over in our remaining games. I know it's probably the same for many clubs in the league, but that just highlights the problem all the more...
