Something had obviously happened back in France because from about June there was just no way he wasn’t leaving Tours. Every week FranceFootball was telling us that he’d been somewhere trialling, or was ‘set to sign’ for some club or other. Nobody particularly of note, but it was an interesting lesson in how agents can, eventually force through a move.

I guess this was pretty much a shit-or-bust thing; Delort isn’t old at 23, but if he wasn’t in the right shop window now, he’d never get a ‘big’ move in future. All this on the back of one good season with Tours – 24 goals in Ligue 2 is a decent haul, for sure – but he’s never been a great goalscorer before that.

It just seems to me that Wigan forked out about £3m-ish on someone with one good season at a fairly low level of football behind him, badgered into it by the fact he was being hawked round everywhere.

Just so happens tonight's programme has a article all about Andy Delort

Grimois, if it wasn't for the pre match beers I'd be struggling to watch us as well

Dead cert, on the way to the Watford game the other week I was telling Mitzi I had Man City to beat Stoke on my Accy. The previous 5 or 6 games at Etihad had all gone City's way with a combined score of something like 19-0....as I had already placed my bet it was too late but as soon as I saw that stat I said well that's a Stoke win to knack my bet up.....final score City 0 - 1 Stoke

I know most of you guys will be there in person tonight, but for those unable to attend, there is going to be a live stream on "wiziwig" apparently. I'm gunna give it a go anyhow. Will probably be disappointed, but hey ho!  Thumb up

Theo, you missed a whole week's misguided optimism from most quarters from Powell's appointment up to kick-off on Saturday. Status quo was swiftly restored.

Thanks Mitzi, good to know that life goes on while I take a few days away and that Town (and The Blow Jays) don't change much. I took a new fangled (to me) Kitkat powered Android tablet thing with me and it was such a pain to use I almost stopped bothering when you all moved over here. I got logged in but that was about all I could do. Back on normal PC power now, will be following the match on the Beeb website.
