Rethink. The competition we enter at the start of the season consists of 38 games and we know in advance that we have no chance of winning it since the top 6 clubs will dominate everything. The only excitement is the possibility of finishing mid-table (yawn).
But…we now have a REAL competition. The bottom seven teams ALL have the possibility of survival or relegation. Let us, for the moment, listen to the Devil’s Advocate and say that Leics will win all their remaining 7 games; Burnley will win all their’s (except the one against Leics); QPR win all their’s….etc, etc…BUT The Albion loose all their remaining games!!! Then the table could end up like this:-
Newcastle and Everton 50pts
Villa 47
Leics 46
Sund 44
Hull 43
Burnley 41
QPR 38
WBA 33
An extreme possibility as this includes all the top teams being systematically beaten by these struggling teams but…..Leics have only Chelsea to face with all the rest of their games clearly winnable. Whereas The Albion have a nightmare run-in. In fact, it makes me wonder what the current odds are for Leics to survive the drop..might be worth a flutter? In all seriousness though I think the final points table will be very, very close and therefore more interesting than the rest of the season put together.

14 Leicester 38 -20 34
15 West Brom 38 -25 34
16 Aston Villa 38 -25 34
17 Burnley 38 -26 30
18 Hull 38 -24 29
19 Sunderland 38 -31 29
20 QPR 38 -25 28
I ran a prediction table to the end of the season, it came out looking like this.
The top 4 teams need to pick up points in order to stay in contention for the CL I cant see them throwing away the easy games tbh

Interesting. My point really was how close its all going to be and how much more exciting it is compared to the rest of the season. I agree; the big teams won't throw points away but on the other hand small teams will fight even harder for survival. I think we will see some really strange results in the next few weeks. Its certainly not beyond The Albion to get unexpected points from a big team. I think Hull, Burnley and QPR will go.

I got:
13 Aston Villa -17 43
14 Leicester -17 38
15 West Brom -20 37
16 Newcastle -24 37
17 Burnley -23 36
18 Sunderland -27 35
19 Hull -20 34
20 QPR -21 32
I didn't expect to have QPR last.
Did you know that we face the top 5 of the current form table, I'm not too nervous because despite some of the bleak performances we still have to play Newcastle who have an atrocious defence and we have got a few results in recent years against most the teams we're playing and hopefully Arsenal will be resting players for the cup final. Our defence just needs to retighten itself up and we need to hope to sneak goals because I don't see us scoring another way against some of these teams, maybe we'll actually set ourselves up to counter.
We should stay up but it isn't guaranteed yet.

My humble attempt lets hope it is all over before the last game of the season, can't see it though!
1 Chelsea 38 47 90
2 Man City 38 40 79
3 Arsenal 38 39 79
4 Man Utd 38 34 77
5 Liverpool 38 14 70
6 Southampton 38 24 69
7 Tottenham 38 7 67
8 C Palace 38 7 54
9 Swansea 38 -6 52
10 West Ham 38 1 50
11 Stoke 38 -5 50
12 Everton 38 -3 46
13 Newcastle 38 -19 41
14 Aston Villa 38 -24 35
15 West Brom 38 -30 34
16 Leicester 38 -20 33
17 QPR 38 -23 29
18 Hull 38 -25 29
19 Sunderland 38 -30 29
20 Burnley 38 -28 28
The one interesting thing though is how many of us only see us picking up one more point. Lets hope we are all wrong about that one.

...agreed BTB. Pulis has to be cleverer than a clever thing to wrangle some 'bonus' points from somewhere. Newcastle seems the obvious place.

I think it is plain to see that the big teams will destroy our goal difference with our tortoise defenders. I have us to lose every match and stay up by a point due to the teams below us drawing most matches with each other.
1 Chelsea.......38 50 94
2 Man City......38 40 79
3 Arsenal........38 38 79
4 Man Utd.......38 35 78
5 Liverpool......38 20 72
6 Tottenham....38 8 67
7 Southampton.38 22 65
8 Swansea.......38 -1 57
9 West Ham.....38 0 49
10 C Palace........38 -3 47
11 Everton..........38 -1 46
12 Stoke ............38 -7 46
13 Newcastle.....38 -22 38
14 Aston Villa.....38 -23 36
15 Burnley.........38 -25 34
16 Sunderland....38 -28 34
17 West Brom....38 -32 33
18 Hull...............38-22 32
19 QPR..............38 -24 31
20 Leicester.......38 -25 29
Imo we have to get something from Palace or we can start planning for the Championship because these bottlejobs will buckle under the pressure against Newcastle.
