If the mixed downhill teatrayers and the men's curlers do as well as they can, we could be getting proper giddy here.

Curling update - GBR Men finished second in one of the best games I've seen, losing 5-6 against Switzerland after an extra end. They now play Norway at 1pm today and then Canada at 6pm tomorrow. Their final game is on Wednesday at 1pm against USA in a game that might easily be a must-win for both teams. GBR Women lost yesterday's game against Sweden by 7-10, but recovered this morning to see off Denmark by 7-2 with 2 ends to play. Their remaining 4 games are against Switzerland at 6pm tonight, USA on Wednesday at 8am and Japan at 6pm and finally Italy on Thursday at 1pm. Realistically they will need to win 3 of those to stand a chance of progression, despite playing very well in certain games.

When Tabatha Stoecker and Matt Weston won Gold for Team GB in the Mixed Team Skeleton event, Freya Tarbit and Marcus Wyatt finished 0.01 seconds behind the Bronze Medallists to earn yet another 4th place.

Another 4th place finisher, Kirsty Muir, sets off in the Freestyle Big Air Final from 6.30pm tonight.

I was watching one of my favourite events, the Short Track Speed Skating earlier this morning. It's full of thrills and spills and penalties and advancements. Give it a shot and see if you agree.

Having been up at some God-forsaken time through the night taking half of my family to Edinburgh Airport and having 2 games of curling today, I'll not be on here again until some time tomorrow.

Well, let's get the curling out of the way first, in preparation for a huge game tomorrow for the GBR Men. Starting the week as one of the medal favourites, they've now lost 3 games in a row, the latest against Norway 6-7 and Canada 5-9, and are in grave danger of not making the Semi-finals. As predicted earlier, tomorrow's game at 1pm against USA is a must-win for both teams. Even then the winner is not guaranteed to qualify as they will have to depend on other results going their way. Both Switzerland and Canada have qualified for two of the places.

I must admit to a fair degree of doubt about Bruce Mouat's team to deliver the goods. Poor shots, especially early in games, have been the catalyst for minor disagreements, mainly on Grant Hardie's shots. After a decision has been made on what shot to play, by the time it's ready to be played there have been too many queries from Hammy and Lammie as to the wisdom of that shot. I hate to air the thought that "could this be the beginning of the end for a fantastic world-class team?". I sincerely hope not.

As for the GBR Women, they have look to have missed the chance to qualify after their defeat by 6-10 against Switzerland last night. They have been very erratic in playing the important shots, especially against the "lesser" teams.

If only there had been tinplate medals awarded for 4th place, we would have had another medal for Kirsty Muir last night in the Freestyle Big Air Final. If only Sad

They were saying that the GB team is the calmest of the curlers. In that case, they need firing up because it's not working!

Today's game reminded me of 1975 and What A Difference A Day Makes by Esther Phillips - 24 little hours. GBR Men's curlers demolished USA by 9-2 after only 6 ends played. After Norway and Italy were both beaten today, we now need one of them to be beaten tomorrow to qualify for the Semi-finals at 7pm tomorrow night. If both Norway and Italy win then GBR are out as both have won against us.

GBR Women won this morning by 8-7 against USA thanks to an absolutely fabulous last stone from Rebecca Morrison. Patsy would have been proud. Although we have only 3 wins so far, we play Japan and Italy tomorrow and need to win them both. Unfortunately, there are 5 teams above us that could also qualify, but we have already beaten 2 of them in the Round Robin, which might be vital in any deciding countback.

In the Cross Country Skiing Team Sprint, GBR Men - Andrew Musgrave and James Clugnet finished an excellent 5th in an event where our best previous best was 12th.

Both GBR Curling Teams are hanging on to a qualification spot. The Men need at least one of Norway and Italy to lose tomorrow. The Women need to beat Italy and hope that two of Canada, Korea and USA are beaten. As Canada and Korea play each other, that's one out of the way, so USA might be the problem. We've beaten both Canada and USA, so that's potentially in our favour if it's a tie on 5 wins. If all else fails we're best in the Draw Shot Challenge, so that's in our favour. Fingers crossed.

In the Women's Halfpipe, Zoe Atkins sets off on runs 1 and 2 from 6.30pm tomorrow, with the Final on Saturday for the Top 12.
