Aston Villa vs WBA - Double Match Thread
Poor performance all round tonight but yet again the passing by Brunt was awful yes ok he stuck in a decent corner but to be honest i'd expect any professional footballer to be able to take one if required his passing accuracy was 53.7% tonight only Ben Fosters was worse sums it up!

Our players lack the bottle and hunger for a game like that.
After that terrible performance, goodbye Wembley which might not be a bad thing as we've got a relegation battle on our hands. Little wonder Berahino wants to 'move on to better things'  who can blame him.

Oh come on, that's too negative. I don't think we were good tonight, but we've got enough on home performances to stay clear of the drop. I think we will give it a go on Saturday as its winner takes all, tonight was about trying to get another point and some poor goalkeeping.

Is there any worse feeling than being in with the Villa fans when they get a last minute winner? Good job I was sober. Poor performance and got what we deserved - but when we set out to secure a 0-0 draw away at one of the divisions poorest teams I shouldn't' be surprised. Too negative Pulis.

The truth is, despite our negative style, we only lost because of Foster's error.

At 1-1 we had by far the best chance to win when Saido put Mozza through and he
decided to cross. Of course, that's not even going to go on the statistics because he
didn't shoot - but the guy was put clean through and was just not positive enough
to drive on and get a shot away.

Also Dawson had a chance which he'd usually gobble up.

Villa didn't create anything.

No doubt that we were poor, but it's tough to critisise the manager and setup when
we've come away with a loss only because of a ridiculous individual error. Saturday
will be interesting, but I'd be surprised if we can have as many players performing
as poorly as tonight.

I think the good news we can all take away from tonight is that in just over a billion years, the hydrogen at the core of the sun will burn itself out, spiking solar radiation as the star begins to die, causing all of the earth's oceans to evaporate and turning our whole planet into a stark, lifeless desert.

And on that day, we won't have to play the Villa anymore.

I'm sorry but yes I believe Pulis deserves criticism today. I've been pleasantly surprised by our home performances but away we're far too negative against very ordinary teams. On another day we could have been 3 down at half time without having a shot at goal ourselves. Second half we actually tried to play in their half and looked far better, so why not try that from the start? We've taken 3 points from 4 away games against teams in the bottom half but when you don't try to win I suppose you can't expect much more.

Just our luck we're playing Villa our very next game on Saturday just in case the scientists have got it wrong and the world ends on Sunday.

Might give Stephen Hawking a ring and ask if he can shunt armageddon forward to Friday night.

A Bedtime Story
NIGHTMARE ON ALBION STREET By Valpayne
And so it was, during a gruelling 14 hr shift at work I kept my eyes on BBC Sport hoping for once we would lay down the gauntlet and take the honours at the dreaded villa park?

But no, alas, Villa scored first and were taking shots for fun, it seemed, while we appeared to be, well... just laying down, like lambs to the slaughter, Then out of nowhere, hope eternal, as first, Berahino with that equaliser then a short time later, The saints putting one past Palace and the ascent up the north face of the prem began as we clawed our way into 12th place.

With fear and trepidation I continued to watch the clock tick down and as it did I dared to dream of coming home in the dead of night and tuning into the sky sports highlights and enjoying a hearty supper washed down with a glass or two of liquid treats. Surely at 90 minutes + we weren't going to blow this were we? :/ Then I saw Ska'ds one word post "NIGHTMARE" and with growing horror I flicked back to see the BBC version of events and saw the immortal words PENALTY No, NO, NO, NOOOO, FFS NO I cried. But all in vain, as the team that cannot score for love nor money once again put us to the sword with that familiar 2-1 scoreline I've seen so many times down the years. Sad

Sick to my stomach I finished my last job at work and headed home some time after 11pm and the final insult of not being able to park anywhere near my house rammed the final nail in my coffin as I face a lengthy walk to the car and another 12 hour grueller at work come the morrow. Living as i do alone there is no-one here to sound off at no-one to drown my sorrows with No wife to strangle, just me and the red light of the skybox teasing me, laughing at me as it records this evenings horror show starring Fozzimodo.

The only pitiful crumb of comfort left is my beloved family, the villa side that is, are happy for once but have wisely declined to rub it in as I drown my sorrows in the aforementioned liquid treats.

So now I am a broken man, I am that 8 year old that used to hide under the table whenever we lost a game. But above all I am sick and tired of losing to Aston bloody Villa. I was positive we wouldn't lose both games I had turned over a new leaf and with optimism I declared on these pages that very notion. However now I'm not so sure and I must return to my dark sadistic, pessimistic and gloomy side. Sad
The End
