Great team selection in spite of a few doubts - thought Gardner was MOTM but every player had a good game today......I actually thought Brunty was probably our best defender too!
The spirit and drive was SO there for everyone to see - what a turnaround from a few months ago!

Great to see Mulumbu back, but VERY worrying that our only 2 forwards went off though.
All in all, a fantastic day for us - let's hope at least 1 of Saido and Brown are OK for the Villa game.

Brunt was great defensively and Saints didn't provide too much from his side, more against Dawson. It's great to see them both on the overlap but it's a shame that the delivery is lacking a bit sometimes.

Foster made a couple of good saves even if he still has the capacity to make me nervous now and again (ie that kick)

I love having Lescott at the back, great player and so reassuring, G Mac compliments him quite well and was solid as ever.

The midfield all kept the ball fairly well and protected the defence quite well for the most part.

Ideye put himself about as he needed to.

Saido I love him and Lescott.

Mulumbu, when he came on. Maybe a bit mistake prone but I still really like him as a player and he is very skilful for a centre midfielder at Albion who isn't even especially attacking.

then play Mac on one wing Morrison on the other That gives us a big guy to hold it up and three pacey players to latch on to the ball
Vic then shouldn't need to run around too much after his lay off. What does anyone else think to that?

Pretty good and I'd do that, not a massive number of other options though.

These injuries worry me so a consensus on where we'll post injury news would be great.

Got in from the gym and saw 1-0 on the BBC Sports website with about 10 minutes left and I changed channels, I couldn't bear to watch. What a result, and it's as welcome as it was unexpected (for me) - I felt sure Southampton's goal drought would end today, but thankfully Graziano Pelle continues to miss chances. Wow, that's a massive result, and as Ska'd said in his match preview, it will help define our season. The lads will be more confident now, and let's tighten up the defence, because we were a bit fortunate today Southampton didn't score, and we should definitely be ok. And other results went our way too, so result all round!

We look like a proper Premiership side under Pulis. Tough to beat, can give anyone a game and have
grinded our some great wins at home. When you consider we've barely been able to win at home for
years - the speed of the transformation feels more impressive. Need a couple more wins still, but at
30 points - it does feel like we should definitely be safe.

Unfortunate situation with the strikers, but it always did feel like it could happen with only 3 and one
being Anichebe. Just hope they aren't as bad as they looked and Victor is back for the Villa game. Would
be a nightmare to go there without a fit striker.

Tomo on SSN after saying how saints have lost the plot did to his credit Wax lyrical after about TP and The Baggies. He said TP has made us his kind of side very Quickly 10 games 6 wins 3 draws and 1 Lost but most important 7 clean sheets. He also said that G Mac and Lescott are outstanding in central defence and in front of them Fletcher and Yacob are solid and as a foursome down the spine they are all making us a much stronger defensive side. Thats top half form and I'm a happy baggie again for first time since Roy Hodgson days

Aires - OK it's true that they had a couple of chances that they missed, but over the 90 mins - or was it 190? - we had equally good ones, so I wouldn't say we were fortunate in that respect.
Like Swansea, for all their possession Soton were kept largely away from the danger area - big credit to the players and their work ethic for that

I felt we rode our luck a bit more than we did against Swansea, but still a very hard-working and dogged performance, three points ultimately well-earned. Though it'll take another win or two to see us over the line, this victory has pushed us clear of the dogfight and in all likelihood, given us Premier League football to look forward to next season.

Now to see that Villa have Championship football to look forward to next season!
