If he can earn a crust somewhere, good on him. Liked him as a player and a person when he was at Town. Doubt he'll come back a millionaire so it's what he moves on to next that matters.

Quote:Halifax council has agreed to the sale of The Shay sports stadium to Huddersfield Giants owner Ken Davy. The Super League side will play their games at The Shay from 2026 until their new stadium is built and opened around 2028/2029.

The sale of The Shay comes with strict conditions which must be met including the covenant that the ground can only be used for sports.

This will protect the long-term future of both the Halifax Panthers and Halifax Town.

I don’t mean this in a bad way but if I was a Giants fan the first thing I’d be hoping is Ken lives long enough to see this whole masterplan through. Yesterday they had about 1500 at best watching them against Trinity, that’s the hardcore and most of them will probably watch them at the Shay, but Ken is bailing them out weekly and it isn’t going to financially get better anytime soon.

Where's the new ground being built? Are they going back to Fartown?

They ruled Fartown out due to the new homes already there, local parking issues, etc. There's a big car park in front of B&Q they could build on! Whistle

My pal says they’ve earmarked the Gas works Car park

That was one mentioned a while back, somewhat hemmed in by the canal and St. Andrews Road but probably big enough for a 5-10,000 capacity stadium which is plenty for what they (and most other RL Teams) get even in a good season.

Although it’s looks like they have other plans for the gas works car park and surrounding areas
