St Mirren v Hibs - Sunday 4 August
#1
Here we go again, happy as can be - for now at least. Hibs travel to Paisley tomorrow to take on a St Mirren side on a high after their 4-1 win against Valur on Thursday night.

I'm not expecting too much from this match, which will follow the usual pattern from Hibs. Our team will be markedly different from last season, but not necessarily much better. We need another couple of attacking players and it seems our defence is settled, although not strong in depth, so a point will be a great result.

St Mirren 3 Hibs 0.

Not much to say, really. The defence is no better - back into the usual nervy mistakes. The attack is no better and miss the few chances they get. Not a good start, especially with Celtic up next.

Absolute shit.... Defence was horrendous and gifted them goals 2 and 3 in an embarrassing manner.

We also managed to miss the easiest chance you will ever see inside the first 10 minutes. St Mirren physically dominated and were willing to pick up the yellow cards 1st half to do so. 2nd half it was blatant that a number of our team just didn't fancy it at all. It was like we were still on pre season.

St Mirren had a european game on thursday as well mind.

We needed a major overhaul and to date that hasn't been even attempted. The board and MM are going to have to support SDG or he is going to get hung out to dry.

SDG on today's game
"In the first half we had enough chances to go in front. We don't take them. It's been a theme for a wee while. The goal we lose starts with three or four mistakes and we can never accept that. It's nowhere near where we need to be. The standards have been set from day one. We know in both boxes we weren't good enough again today and that's a concern."

We know, we've heard it all last season.

Its becoming a scratched record isn't it?

MM needs to clear out a lot the guff that's been accumulated over the years in that squad or they will end up getting him and SDG both the sack. Meanwhile its clear there is a split behind the scenes and a lot of folk are unhappy. If things go sour on the pitch this season i can see things turning very ugly.

"trust in the process" we are told though. Condescending dicks.
