Looking back at the transfer window

Five players out, five players in during January/February was the sum total of Hibs' trading in the market.

IN
Martin Boyle – seems to be a regular pick, still bedding himself in, could be better but OK.
Franck Dja Djedje - should be a regular pick, but has been injured, might be sidelined when Malonga and El Alagui return.
Tomas Cerny - experienced keeper, not only competition for Oxley but will probably end up as first choice.
Keith Watson – regular first choice at least until Gray returns to full fitness, certainly a great squad player.
Fraser Fyvie - keen to get his career back on track, should be an excellent buy for Hibs, make him an offer he can't refuse for next season.

OUT
Matthew Kennedy – not much we could do about his recall, good player.
Jake Sinclair – as Kennedy above, less likely to feature.
Alex Harris – lost his way after injury, needed a change and the loan move seems to be working.
Callum Booth – was second choice to Gray, then probably third choice behind Watson, good loan move.
Paul Heffernan – there is a God after all!

SHAKE IT ALL ABOUT
Oxley will probably become second choice keeper; Gray will have to battle for his place and might be moved forward; one of Stanton and Handling might drop out of the equation, or, better still, Craig; pick any 2, or even 3 in certain games, from Cummings, Malonga, Dja Djedje, El Alagui, and Boyle - possibly Stubbs' biggest dilemma over the next few months.

We couldn't get shot of Heffernan ourselves a few years ago!! Came to us with much promise and completely failed to deliver before we sent him back north of the border!!!!

On the whole are you happy with the changes made? Is the squad going to be able to mount a challenge first to Rangers and then maybe to Hearts?

Callum Booth is a left back so was second choice to Stevenson.......who is not a full back but who has adapted fairly well when needed. ( in reality we don't now have a specialist left back!) He is good going forward but defensively can be left wanting. All in all it means we are short for cover in the left back position if anything happens to Stevenson. I would have kept Booth for this reason but appreciate they had to let players go in order to bring others in. ( especially as Gray is prone to injury and so we needed Watson to cover) Defense will be our biggest problem and all we can hope for is Cerny can organise them better than Oxley when and if given the chance.

You're right, Exeter, Booth was second choice to Stevenson at left-back, but when Gray was out injured, either he or Stevenson went to right-back, leaving Hibs with a back four entirely composed of left-footed players. We always had a problem with the right-back position, but now it's left-backs we're short of!

Personally I'm happy with the changes as we've got better players than we had with the addition of Cerny, Watson and Fyvie. We should be a better all-round team with a decent chance of having a good subs bench available. Stubbs now has about 17 players to choose a reasonable starting line-up from, rather than 14 as before.

Excellent for Hibs

I know some bitter Dons who wouldnt have given Fyvie a second look but I wouldve taken him back, not like the lad has been plagued with injuries and lost his touch, potentially one of the signings of the window North of the Border IMO

Cerny also a really good player I think youve had a great window
