Ok, I apologize for making that insinuation.
MA is in it for the money, of that there is no doubt. Even this move, while it is his first "football" move related to Rangers, also benefits him in the two ways I said above - first, it could give Rangers a better chance at promotion this season, at which point he makes money through merchandise and share value and gets paid for his loans, and secondly he gets valuable game time for 5 fringe players at his other club so he will have a better idea if they will make it at Newcastle or not.

Apology accepted sir.
I don't believe anything Ashley does is fir the benefit of others it's solely done for him.

Why apologise?
His opinions have been scripted for him for years. You know it and we all know it.
Him and Maroon - sputing pish about the outcome of tribunals etc having never read the published decisions. Echo is embarrassed by him.
MA is doing whatever he wants because he has the money to show the finger to whoever questions him at the moment. The SFA are probably his main target - I have to wonder how it is they can demand that he appears before them? Does that mean they can demand that any shareholder appear? How would they enforce that?
I'd like to see him give it right to the Scottish football authorities.
Anyway back to the transfers. Not a bad word to say about it.

Then Echo blushed.
I think Ashley's been good for Newcastle. They are certainly no less successful under his ownership than they were prior to his arrival. He does what is necessary to keep them in the EPL. Let's face it, they are not a global brand and he won't spend the cash necessary to make them one: "How to bankrupt a billionaire".
They are a mid table club that makes the occasional foray into the upper reaches and more regularly the lower ones. That's their natural habitat.
Rangers, on the other hand, naturally aspire to competing to be national champions. If MA can arrange for that to happen I'll shake his hand.

He doesn't do much harm to Newcastle that I can see. He gave the club a huge interest-free loan (£129m I think) and gets some free advertising for Sports Direct in return. Apparently no one has ever put an alternative offer to them that would be more financially beneficial to Newcastle, so the situation persists. Other than that he just keeps player spending in line with income and stays within FFP limits. Newcastle fans hate him because he won't plow millions into the club for established star players, and because his reorganisation of the management structure led to Kevin Keegan's departure. The reality of that particular situation was that Keegan was a chequebook manager who wasn't so great on the tactical side of the game, and he quit because Ashley was taking control of that chequebook away from him.

I have to disagree about MA and Newcastle!! The tv revenues have gone through the roof in the prem and yet in that time the merchandise revenues have dramatically dropped, to the tune of millions of pounds since Sports Direct got involved!! Their feeling is he is siphoning money out of the club whenever he can rather than spending on the team.
But I do agree that they are a midtable team with good support and as you say even though he has said he will go if an offer is forthcoming, there has never been a sniff of new owners from what I have seen.

I hope we get access to their scouting network - they have pulled of a few blinders recently.?
