West Ham FA Cup Investigation

West Ham investigated by Fifa (taken from BBC Website)

Some news from Fifa about Sakho-gate:

"We can confirm, that disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the player Diafra Sakho (SEN) and the club West Ham United for a potential violation of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.

Looks like the Hammers could be in a spot of bother for playing Sakho in their FA Cup win over Bristol City. He scored the winner as well.

Could they get kicked out and Bristol put back in?

You could see this coming when they 'pulled' Sakho due to an 'injury'.

West Ham just taking the pee. I hope they get hammered... Angry

I'm pretty sure Chesterfield fielded an ineligible player in the second round and won the match, and the FA made them replay the fixture. It'll be a big test of the FA's resolve as to how they proceed with this, because if West Ham have committed the same offence, then they should be subject to the same punishment. If the FA bottle this then it tells you all you need to know.

They should not be allowed to replay the game, at the end of the day fielding an illegible is plainly cheating. Either give Bristol the Shams place or just give us the bye.

It is sickening the way that some clubs seem to think the rules do not apply to them, whether it be this, capping or even on field play, I dare say nothing will happen about this though.

But if they already let Chesterfield replay after the same offence then they have to be consistent.

Ah, having studied the report, it seems that Sakho wasn't "ineligible to play" by the rules of the FA Cup (which is how Chesterfield got done), but rather that by FIFA rules, he should have been on international duty. If that's the case, FIFA have no power over the FA Cup, so yes, West Ham will get away with this.

However, it also says that they're not playing Sakho until the case has been sorted, so maybe a bit of a plus point.

Knowing our luck they will drop him for the league then play him in the cup Sad
