Well, me ticket's arrived anyroad. Hopefully there's a chance of a train or two running when we eventually play it - though that will now be midweek no doubt,

There's also talk that former Palace Chairman Simon Jordan is sniffing around at a bid for the club, which he hasn't denied, if fact, he brought the subject up.

Just in case you've not seen the Costa-del-Coventry beach that is dangerous to play on.

https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/...d-24691334 - yes I did post it before.

It looks more like the bottom of a budgie cage than the Canaries own home.

The piles of donkey poo left behind will hopefully help the new bits of turf they are going to stitch into place (sounds like a Desso repair job to me) help the grass grow.

Get a Move on then chaps Big Grin

I still don't think it looks bad enough to postpone.

Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?

Methinks a lot of politics in place.

SISU, Coventry's owners reneged on paying Coventry Council the rent they agreed for the ground when they slumped from the Prima Donna League into League 1. Eventually they went and played in Northampton after the Council sent Bailiffs in to recover any assets they could grab (mostly from the club shop, though City got wind of it and moved stuff out as fast as they could) as part payment. This shenanigans was aimed to "distress" the company the Council had set up to run the stadium and SISU hoped they could get the Council to agree to a cheap sale of the stadium, or at least its lease, despite the Council having stumped up most of the brass to build the place for them. Yes they got the clapped out Highfield Road as part of the bargain but that still had to be demolished and redeveloped.

Well it worked so well that Wasps sneaked in through the back door and bought the lease making CCFC tenants yet again. When SISU eventually fell out with Wasps (again), they went and played in Brum for a couple of seasons, also distressing Wasps business plan somewhat, though Wasps seem to have been compounding that themselves. The early big crowds that flocked to watch them have somewhat dwindled apparently, no surprise as the history in Coventry is at best dubious and Leicester are still the biggest draw in this part of the world.

So anyway, come the Commonwealth Games and the Rugby 7's. None of the Brum based football clubs wanted to know, so Wasps and maybe Worcester were the next nearest with decent facilities. Not sure what made them plump for Coventry but you might have thunk the contract should have included a "return it to us in the condition you'd expected to find it in" clause or at least "give us enough brass to do it ourselves when you've done" clause.

Anyroad although Coventry were back home last season, everyone knew the dates of the CG's and roughly when the EFL would start, whatever agreement to replace the pitch Coventry thought they had with Wasps, Wasps thought or decided otherwise. The bonds they issued to finance their move to Coventry which were due to pay a dividend or be repaid earlier this year, since suspended to August 12th have not been paid. They've now been suspended by the Stock Exchange so can't be traded until Wasps cough up the cash or go into administration, at which point, most of us are aware of what bunfight that will become .....

So there you have it, two clubs at war in the same stadium, not a pot to piss in between them, well, not one that they can agree to piss in. There's talk of them suing each other, which will keep the legal eagles in funds for a while and only when Coventry start to play games at home again will the EFL step in and decide what penalties they can apply.

Meanwhile I've ordered some lawn sand, seed, fertiliser and spent the day digging out some more weeds to try and repair and restore the nightmare that is my front lawn. Weed & feed? They bloody love it.

Trying to grow grass down here is an absolute bloody nightmare and nobody plays football or rugby on my front lawn. I would ask the groundkeeping lads in Coventry for some tips but then again, maybe not.

OK - I see now it's a scheduled match not a rearranged one. Hope the big sewing machines do their job in time.
