If you buy a ticket on the day of the game you have to pay an extra £2 plus another £2 on top for printing the ticket so £4 in total. Encouraging fans to buy online and either print at home or use phone to get through the turnstiles.

There going to be trialling cashless concourses for 3 games.

I wonder if it's to cut down on operating costs and because bank's are charging for processing money now.

The media were reporting the other day that people using cash has gone up by 21% because people want to know what they are spending and to have the money physically in their hands. I will use cash for small things but use my card or contactless for thing's which cost over a tenner. Etc.

I think the reasons are probably a combination of both, Matt. Personally, I have no problem with it. I went to 4 away games last seasons and, only deciding to go a couple of days before the match, getting a ticket was a real faff. There was no time to have a ticket posted, so I had to either drive over from Macclesfield to pick it up or sit in the home section. If I can now order on-line and print at home, that would be great. Or does the new system apply only to home tickets? I`m planning on going to Altrincham and Oldham in a few weeks` time, so I expect I`ll find out then.

Like you, I rarely use cash these days; nearly always debit or credit cards. About the only time I use cash is at the pub; it seems a bit daft getting the plastic out for £1.49. I`m not sure I see the logic in using cash to keep track of what you`re spending. I`d have thought the opposite applied. How many times in the past have I drawn cash from the bank and a week later wondered where the hell it had all gone? If people use a card and keep the receipt, they can see straightaway where they`ve spent it.

I've got a feeling that if cash were invented tomorrow, almost everyone would welcome it as the most brilliant idea ever. Covid came as near to killing cash as video came with the radio star.

I for one don't notice what I'm spending on my cards. I do notice my expenditure if I take out £100 in cash and find I'm down to £10. Luckily I'm fairly well off, but I think that not only does the cashless society thrust thousands of people into poverty, it also makes ridiculous price hikes acceptable, because we do not feel we are really paying until our accounts are verging on empty.

Yes you`re probably right, Dev. I sometimes assume that everybody is as anal as I am when it comes to keeping card receipts and a close track on what I`m spending. All of our cards (we have several; I won`t go into why or you really would be calling for the men in white coats) are paid off in full every month. I`m paranoid about that; it drives my wife mad. It`s probably partly my upbringing (working class; you don`t go into debt unless you absolutely have to, which we don`t) and partly due to the fact that I worked in banking for a large part of my career (I resent like hell the idea of paying even a penny in interest to those greedy bastards).

I appreciate that credit cards can be dangerous and that a lot of people can get into debt with them if they`re not aware of the dangers. Then again, their problems are due in no small measure to the aforesaid greedy bastards who make credit far too easily available at iniquitous rates of interest to people with no means of repaying it. I`ve actually seen adverts on tv for payday loans at around 5,000% APR (although not High Street banks, admittedly). Unbelievable. It should be illegal and one has to question why it isn`t.
