Dixon to Dundee United, I can see this happening.

You 're absolutely right Easty, I don't think we can compete for a higher quality " Backup Striker" than that. Infact, one of those three has already chosen elsewhere. Another would probably choke on his cornflakes at the thought of it. And the other is, I accept, an unsubstantiated gut feeling. As for JET, I have to confess, I'm struggling, like I do on the "Town Catchphrase" thread. I know I will probably kick mi sen when you tell me, but who is JET? As for who would I get in, well if I'm honest, and if it was my money, it'd be the cheapest bloke I could find who could kick a ball, 'cause I aint arf a reet tight old git!  Big Grin Thumb up

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas JASOG, apologies for the confusion. Playing for high-flying bristol city at the moment and they could well get promoted but think Powell's influence could sway him if we went in for him. People underestimate the contacts Powell has got, probably the most influential manager we've had networking wise since maybe Warnock. Jackson was famously reknown for not having many at all, Robins had his old boy man united mates but did we see any dividends from that and Grayson fell into the same category. I like to think we can punch above our weight a bit now. I mean we fought off quite a few people to get nakhi so I'm confident we can get someone else in before the window shuts. Le Fondre can swan off to bolton for the money (which bolton don't actually have) and continue to be in a backwards mediocre club for all I care, he would be far better off at us.

I suspect we will be dealing more in the loan market than permanent, and then do some real business in the summer. I'd be more than happy with that, so long as we get the necessary cover to see us through.

i'm still unsure about JET he always seems to have had a chip on his shoulder since he left Arsenal, pretty much like Frimpong did too. when i've seen him play, one week he's quality, the next its as if he plays with the do-you-know-who-i-am attitude and just vanishes from the game in a sulk. I'd rather us go for Akpom on loan, than splash cash on JET

I agree with you somewhat JJ but I think Powell could motivate someone like that. Lee Clark could never do that but I honestly think Powell has the ability to motivate these kind of players, thats why Deano brought him in. To get the best out of this current crop of players which, lets face it, have been complete bottlers for most of the time they've been in the championship we'll all admit that.

I've seen Emmanuel Thomas a couple of times and thought he was pretty good. Linked up midfield and attack really well. Good on the ball too
