I was at that game and I thought Albion deserved it, but back then as a 14 year old I always wore my blue and white striped tinted glasses! Amazing to think we've never played them in the FA Cup in the 47 years since.

I'm glad you said that, Aries.
After the game I met up with my Blues mates in Town, and they claimed they were unlucky because they hit the post - that was ALL!
When I saw them a couple of days later they claimed they were ROBBED.
When I saw them the next week they claimed it was the most one-sided semi-final ever, and that Blues s/b at Wembley and not us.
I just laughed it off.
Tom Ross perpetuates the myth, and exaggerates it more every time he mentions the game. Last time I listened to the idiot he said Blues played us off the park! Next time he mentions it, I'm sure he'll say the FA considered a rematch because it was so one-sided, and the wrong team won!

I couldn't care less, but I just have to laugh - we robbed them of a bit of glory. (Don't forget they were 2nd Division at the time).
I just hope the atmosphere's the same tomorrow as on that sunny day - it really was electric. We had the open Witton End, and Blues had the covered Holt End, but we matched them vocally. Great day!

I expect he'll play a shop window first 11 with stalwarts on the bench.

Myhill,
Gamboa, Dawson, McCauley, Baird
Valera, Dorrans, Yacob, Brunt
BigVic, Nabi

Foster, Lescott, Morrison, Wisdom, Berahino

*Varela - doesn't play for us anymore
Surely Ideye would be in the "shop window XI"
Yacob in the shop window?
Poco nowhere to be seen?

TP will be looking to win this tie at the first time of asking at St Andrews so hopefully there'll be no question of a Shop Window XI.
Same starting XI as at Everton.
Foster
Wisdom McAuley Lescott Baird
Morrison Yacob Gardner Brunt
Berahino Anichebe

Aries me old mucka....  t' Baggie Man was also there with a mate of mine who was a 'Blue Nose'
Barry Bridges went on to be something of a legend for the Blues even though he was only with them a couple of years. Doesn't take much to become a 'Blouse' legend does it.  Whistle

Can't wait for this one, really hope TP picks a strong team and gives the FA cup the respect it deserves.
Be great if we can get through to next round but fancy a tough game today.
2-0 Baggies with Sess and Dawson to score.

I think Albion must have had supporters in both ends - I was definitely in the Holte End that day, and if you look at the clip Ska'd put in in his match preview, when Astle scores the Holte End erupts. Great day!

For me, the outcome was never in doubt, playing in our lucky white strip. Poor old Birmingham City - always the bridesmaid!

Aries.... Apparently, it was a certain Fred Pickering who missed several Blouse chances an not Mr Bridges. That's according to an article in the Mail today quoting Bomber.
