Ross Co v Hibs, Sat 30 October, KO 3.00pm
#11
The latest negative news reveals Hibs down on 10 players - five injured plus five COVID affected. I think our hopes of attaining a positive result are remote. Therefore I'd expect JR to at least attempt to organise a decent "spine" of a scratch side - goalie, CB and CF with some form of experience and accountability. Build a reasonable team around that foundation and stick to a game plan that is simple for all the players to understand and deploy, bearing in mind this looks like it's gonna be a scratch side comprising players unfamiliar with playing together at this level of footie. Boyyy, Hibs have a "drawn a short draw" in a match where grabbing the 3 pts would be invaluable in gaining an upward position near the top of the Scot Prem.

I'm more concerned with the limited "power to motivate" on the part of Jack Ross, an issue that I've highlighted time n time again in the past 12-18 months. We can say, "C'mon the kids" as much as we want, but that means nothing without a manager who has the attribute to naturally "lift" players in a very difficult situation like this one.

If that was the case, then I'm sure HFC would've officially informed Hibs fans of that prospect as well as the footie press/media doing likewise.

Hibs apparently down to just seven youth players - they've been "hammered" by this COVID outbreak!! Mistakes definitely look like they have been made by certain parties if one scrutinises the strict measures to establish a "bubble" of protection as set out in the Scot govt/NHS Scotland guidelines. So our next competitive match will be in another semi-final at Hampden Park in 19 days time. I'll think twice about attending that match as we've been shat on "big-time"!!

8 first team players, 7 reserves, several staff members all positive at hibs, plus some close contacts as well.

Something has gone badly, terribly wrong here.

As we all know, it doesn't matter tuppence if there are robust measures and protocols in place, if the participants ignore them. No matter what else took place, there must have been a major error made by one or more of the staff/players, that then affected the rest. Hibs must not brush this under the carpet, like they would a "prank". It's much more serious than that.
