WBA Transfer Window: (Summer 2015) Starting early..
Confirming What Tom has said above .......................

Tony Pulis revealed West Bromwich Albion are in the process of trying to bring four new players to The Hawthorns.

Pulis is keen on Wigan’s Callum McManaman with Albion set to increase their opening gambit for the 23-year-old winger.

At the same time Pulis is trying to make headway in a pursuit for a striker with all the signs Albion’s dealings will go to the wire.

Liverpool are unlikely to allow Rickie Lambert out of Anfield until they have a replacement in place but Albion clearly have other irons in the fire including Swansea left-back Neil Taylor

“We have had bids for four different players go in. We will just wait and see.

“You put bids in and you see what the clubs want and then we will take a view. It’s not just him (McManaman) there are three or four other people that we have asked and enquired about.

“Then we will take a view what we think is value for money and what is right for us.

“Some of them haven’t come back to us, some are still negotiating. But we will take a view when we are in a position to assess what we’ve got and what we haven’t got and we will go from there.

“There are certain areas on the pitch within the group that we have to get to enable us to be better.

“We do need a bit of pace out wide without a question of doubt.

Pulis was more than delighted by the character shown by his team in last night’s rugged 0-0 draw at Everton.

The point took Albion ahead of Villa in the table and kept the new boss’ unbeaten record in tact.

“There’s lot of things that we have to improve upon and obviously we have to do it quickly because we need to the points to stay up.”

Albion didn't have a shot on target and post-match statistics had them down at just 31 per cent possession.

“It was a resilient performance. I thought the lads worked really hard,” Pulis said.

“We have only had a few days to really get down to working with the team. They worked so hard off the ball, they put their lives on the line at times.

“We needed to.

“What we have to do, and it doesn't come overnight, we have to be better on the ball. The midfield players at times gave the ball away too cheaply and they are good players: Morrison, Brunt, Gardner and Yacob.

“If you are going to be that solid you have to be able to break on teams. You have to commit, you can’t be sat there all the time.

“But they gave a fantastic effort and good resilience. It was really pleasing.

“We were poor on the changeover and we have to improve on that because against the better teams you can’t keep giving the ball back to them because eventually they will punish you.

“That’s a big thing that has come out of the game tonight- not the effort, not the commitment... the shape of the team was very good defensively.

“But when we get the ball we have to retain it and get passes off to get us off the pitch.

“The players have worked really hard but they have got on with it. Getting results is the most important thing because it sells it to the players.”

Do we think he's got a bad attitude or something? Cause i really can't understand why else TP wouldn't fancy him Confused

Reports in Italy are suggesting Silvestre Varela may be close to agreeing a loan switch to Parma.

The 29-year-old, who has been capped 26 times by Portugal, became Albion’s 10th signing of the summer when he arrived on a season loan from Porto.

But he only showed glimpses of his potential, making just three League starts after finally being given a bow by Alan Irvine in December as a sub against West Ham.

He blossomed briefly with a Man of the Match display against Villa and goal at QPR but faded from the scene and hasn’t figured at all in the League for new boss Tony Pulis .

He was given 23 minutes against Gateshead but didn’t even make the bench for the following game against Hull.

Pulis wants to add Callum McManaman to his ranks with bids in for three or four other targets.

Sebastian Blanco is also set to leave with San Lorenzo keen, whilst the futures of Cristian Gamboa and Jason Davidson look particularly uncertain.
It's official then - both Blanco AND Valera are leaving....

Surely must be to free up more money in wages?

....also seems like Saido will be staying

Something was clearly wrong behind the scenes with that pair. No doubt the truth will leak out in time, but for now, we need to fill those squad spaces with a winger who's fit to play and ideally fast, and a central player who can beat a man and/or pick out a pass (or another winger if we intend to use Sess centrally). I suppose it remains to be seen whether Samaras and Gamboa will be next in line for the axe, or whether Pulis rates them.

Sorry but a bit of a rant coming.

Why on God's green earth is it considered to be appropriate to get rid of our best winger? Angry He should be given the rest of the season just for his goal against QPR.

Don't really care about Blanco.

Trying to replace our Ronaldo with an inconsistent fan hating pr1ck. Great

I don't care if some of you think this is stupid but I really hope we don't just sign british players.

I know Varela hasn't been amazing and this is a bit ott but I really liked him.

Good to see we're trying to do deals even if most of them won't happen until feb 2nd.

The ever up to date BBC has mentioned none of this (from what I've seen).
Haha our club gets more of a laughing stock as each day goes by
Why does it, Dan?
I kind of expected this tbh, therefore I'm going to reserve judgement until the end of the window. Varela I will be sad to see go, he has a great pedigree and looked clearly our best winger since Odem was put out wide. Blanco never even got a chance so won't be a miss but we will never know what he was capable of.

However, I'd advise the people who are angry to look at the likely destinations of the two players... Parma are dead certs to be relegated from Serie A and San Lorenzo finished 8th in the Argentinian league last season. If they were as good as some of us would like to think they are then why are they going to worse teams than us?

My main worry is TP is just going to bring in British players because that really cuts off a massive potential supply of players who could potentially improve us - I just hope he looks at Yacob and maybe with support from our reformed scouting team can identify some more Mulumbu/Yacob/Odem's.

I would be happy with british players as long as they are good enough and will improve the team. Any players brought in are going to have to settle in quickly.
Thank feck it's the cup this weekend.
