Premier League
SCO. 29pts 4CS 7CR 10GB 3BB 0SB
Minizin. 20pts 2CS 5CR 5GB 6BB 1SB
Silver. 20pts 1CS 8CR 0GB 3BB 1SB
Derby. 16pts 0CS 6CR 5GB 3BB 0SB
Sanjay 13pts 1CS 6CR -3GB 6BB 0SB
Snooty 11pts 0CS 6CR -3GB 3BB 1SB
BBB 8pts 1CS 4CR 0GB -3BB 1SB
AAA. 7pts 0CS 5CR 0GB -3BB 0SB
BaggieOne 1pt 1CS 2CR -3GB -3BB 1SB
So we're back and up and running on another exciting season of high quality predicting for the honour of crowning someone as the Champion of the best Sportsbabble prediction league (probably). For some reason SCO seemed really keen to get the scores out quickly this week so I've abandoned my hammock and wine glass (well, one of them) to get this done.
We decided to set an easy set of fixtures as a gentle introduction and as a result the scores were quite impressive - for most of you. SCO came charging out of the gate to score an impressive 29 points as he seeks to go one better than last season. 4 correct scores including the gamball sees him leap into an early lead. Two of last season's promotion winners also carried on their form from last season with a 20 point week. Minizin benefitted from a full set of balls including a maximum bonus, while Silver got the week's high of 8 correct results but only 1 spot-on score. Happily for him that one correct score was the gamball game - unhappily for him, he chose not to play it!
Derby, Sanjay and Snooty all reached double figures for a decent start to the season. Derby failed to get a correct score but did gain from his gamball and bonus while Sanjay's negative gamball was offset by a spot-on bonus. Snooty was another who hit an impressive number of correct results but failed to turn any into correct scores.
Not such a good start for our alphabet boys. Reigning champion BBB scored a moderate 8 points, one ahead of AAA but BaggieOne's first week with the big boys didn't turn out well. Just the single point for him but as someone used to say, it's a marathon.....

Stairs 26pts 3CS 6CR NPGB 3BB 1SB
BlueBaggie 22pts 2CS 3CR 10GB 3BB 1SB
Dingle 21pts 2CS 5CR 10GB -3BB 0SB
Salop 16pts 3CS 1CR NPGB 3BB 1SB
Lady Jane 12pts 2CS 3CR -3GB 3BB 0SB
Zinman 11pts 0CS 5CR NPGB 3BB 1SB
Themaclad 10pts 0CS 4CR NPGB 3BB 1SB
Amelia 7pts 0CS 4CR -3GB 3BB 1SB
Twerton 3pts 0CS 4CR -3GB -3BB 1SB
So we start a new season in the Prediction League and there has been quite a few changes in the closed season. First Zinman and I have switched leagues from a scoring perspective so that we don't score ourselves. In the Championship we see Amelia, Themaclad and Twerton coming down from the PL and we have two new faces in Blue Baggie and Salopbaggie. If anyone still wants to join then we will keep it open for a few weeks. Good luck to all!!
Usually the first few weeks of the season see teams trying to gel and brush off the cobwebs, but not with this bunch!! An excellent opening scoring week for some, led by Stairs with a fine 26 points. He scored on 9 of the 10 games and had he played the Gamball he would have gained 6 more points on top of this as he got the score spot on!! In second spot is newcomer Blue Baggie with 22 points, he was one of two players to get a spot on Gamball and backed that up with a CR on the Bonus. Dingle is in third place on 21 points, he too got a spot on Gamball and scored on 7 of the games, missing his Bonus cost him 6 points and a top spot chance!!
Our other new player Salop is in 4th place with a solid 16 points but like Stairs he missed out on scoring an extra 6 points by not playing the Gamball!! Lady Jane is 5th with 12 points, scoring on 5 games, Zinman is a point behind in 6th who also scored on 5 games but was unable to turn any of those into CSs to keep his score down.
The bottom three this week were the three relegated players, they seem to have brought their poor form from last season into this season!! Themaclad at least got into double figures so not a disaster for him but Amelia and Twerrton will need to do much better if they have any intention of bouncing back at the first attempt!!
As I said on the whole a solid week, can Stairs put a run of form together, will Blue do the same as Minizin did last year in his rookie season and can the relegated players challenge for the promotion spots. Its just week one, going to take a few weeks to see how it shapes up but plenty to ponder on!!
Cheers
