Also great to have a crowd again. All last season the false crowd sounds never once has “The referee’s a Banker”

Enjoyed that, like the intensity. We probably edged it but a point is ok.

Actually a very good game to raise the curtain on the domestic season, probably better than anything Man City and Leicester will dish up tomorrow. That may well prove a valuable point come season's end, although it looked like our disallowed goal should have stood, so there are probably grounds for feeling hard done by at the same time. Still look worryingly suspect in defence, but winning the ball high up the pitch and launching fast, clinical counters is refreshing to see from an Albion side, and will hopefully pay dividends going forward.
Fantastic to see and hear fans in attendance again, and even though it might have ridden to our rescue on that chalked-off goal, it's equally fantastic to celebrate a goal the second it hits the back of the net without VAR hanging overhead like a stormcloud no one asked for. I've missed the Championship so much. Robinson is decent never let North End down what have you done to the away kit were are the stripes?
Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?

Mixed feelings after this one...
There were some really good signs in terms of effort, intensity, bite. That was quite refreshing. Looks like the lads are buying into what the manager wants... On the downside, it was disappointing not to win a game that we controlled for most part. However, a draw was probably fair as Bournemouth looked like they were going to score on every attack. But we should've beat them given the amount of players they were missing. Which leads me onto the fact that we are still short on quality and I think we need 3-4 more additions to really have a go at this league:
We also need to sort that defending out because it was rather shambolic. Was surprised not to see Ajayi as he has the pace to operate in the role in the channel and offers more of a goal threat. But I could see Kipre has bought into the pressing game so maybe that's why he got the nod. Kipre actually looked good on the ball, but I thought him and O'Shea defensively both looked full of ricks today.

Ajayi and Sawyer's missing now look like casulties - Val needs another 5 players.
Okay would free our midfield attack minded players. I digress - a great away point. A few lessons learned. Good start.

We still have Reach and Quevin in this squad. Both are very good players. The energy was amazing but sometimes it looked a bit rushed going forward. I like what VI is doing but I doubt we can keep the intensity up unless he can get more quality into the squad.
I can see why Sawyers was missing because there’s no way in hell he could play at that pace and I for one was glad he wasn’t there. In my opinion Grady is better on the left, so let’s hope he can get into the right wing role, he was a bit hit and miss last night and a tad disappointing for me. He still looks a bit disinterested in my opinion. We definitely need an out and out striker and it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Ajayi, Clarke, Kipre, Bartley and O’Shea at the back. Button did ok and made two very good saves. Mowat looks very good. Overall a great high energy display and a perfectly good goal chalked off by one of a few odd decisions made by the ref. Where’s VAR when you need it (tongue in cheek) Overall we looked very good, a point is welcomed but think we deserved all three. Boing Boing

Loved valerien’s interview afterwards, he is a breath of fresh air, and obviously knows what he wants, which is great. Doesn’t look like he will take any sh1t from nobody. Thought we had the better chances and were the better team, away to a team I expect to be close to promotion or in the playoffs. So good result and good start. In regard to recruits, I think gk we are fine, defenders and wing backs, we are ok, Clarke to come in, Reach & Ingram as back up to furlong and Townsend. I would be ok if they sold Sawyers, can’t see him fitting in to this scheme, but we need 3 more in, a Yokuslu type, a winger (I would like a young lad with pace to burn from a lower division) someone to excite us but also may drop a few clangers to start with, raw talent, a demerai gray when he was 16/17, plus a forward, expect this to be a loan with option to buy WHEN we go up. VI said we are looking at a smaller squad, happy with that, we don’t need to be paying for the likes of Grosicki, Gibbs & Edwards who were not even in the subs most of last year. I must say I enjoy the championship a lot more than premier league, but we must keep going up every so often, to keep the strong squad for when we are in the championship. COYB. |
