We said it each time before these "big games" though - he had to get the tactics right and each time he failed.
I find his managerial style too passive for my liking too, but there's no argument he deserves another crack at it. Least not from me anyway.

Agreed Jim, I've never been a fan of his style and tactics but by one means or another did get us third in the League. For this he deserves to stay and have a go at the next campaign. However with fans ,hopefully, back in the ground, he will have to show that this season was not all good fortune and shows a positive direction he is taking the side. The crowd will certainly tell him if they don't like what they see...........something he hasn't had to contend with this season.

That's a good pt re the absence of Hibs fans NH! One could argue that the lack of legions n legions of Hibs supporters didn't help the cause in big games either although it still takes "two to tango" and I don't think it dismisses that lack of commitment that was very clear to most observing Hibs fans/critics. I do agree that JR should remain at ER based on Hibs successful league campaign. However, I see this period under JR as an evolving one only and I'll be very surprised if Hibs win a trophy and base that reasoning on what Jim previously said re his tactics. I also wonder if he and his coaches can motivate players as well as other decent footie managers esp preceding and during big matches. I reckon guys like Neil Lennon and Stubbsy were better operators in that regard.

The words of Sunderland AFC fans do seem to be becoming quite prophetic.
