THE LAST MATCH

At the beginning of the season if we had been told that our 25th game would be away against Forest to give us the chance to go 6 points clear of them, we would have probably fallen off our chair!!  After all they had just poached our best player and paid 5.5m for a striker, so to be up with them would have been a dream!!

As it was, we were playing a Forest side that is devoid of all confidence and looking a shadow of the side we played at S6 earlier in the season!!  But whereas in the past we have often provided a springboard for struggling teams, this time we strolled to a nice 2-0 win and really never looked in trouble against them.  For me this game showed us that we are much better than previous seasons, that our defence is currently as good as any in the division and that while we still don't score enough we are doing enough to pick up points!!  Here is the video:

THE MATCH - SAT 17TH JAN 2015 KO 1500 GMT

Question now is can we live up to the expectations that are beginning to be put on the team??  This week we play Noblot at home, a game we are rightly expecting to be able to take three points in, but then we all still have that demon in the back of our minds that tells us we have screwed up in these positions before!! Angry But, not this time, we shall remain positive and we will finally put in a decent performance at Hillsborough!!! Thumb up

Up until we appointed Megson, we had never really had any animosity between us and them, but it all kicked off on the old BBC606 between us and their supporters due to us seeing him as a returning hero and them seeing him as the Ginger Satan!!  This went on for weeks, to the point that they became a hated rival of those posters involved!!  So even though the Noblot fans have long since disappeared, there are still enough of us on here to carry on that particular torch!!  Of course they now once again have a ginger twat as manager in Neil Lennon!! Whistle

Our record against them is P72, W30, D15, L27, so we hold a slight upper hand on them overall but we only have 2 wins in the last 10 meetings!! Angry  Our last win was at their place on Boxing Day 2012 when Sidibe scored the winner and our last home win was back in Nov 1997 when we met in the prem and beat them 5-0.  We were 5-0 up at half time that day with goals from Di Canio, Whittingham and an Andy Booth hat trick!!!  We all know what happened in the seasons after that and there was a 10 year gap between us playing not long  after!!  Here is the video of Paulo's goal that day, typical goal for him and please note the home fans on the lower tier of the West Stand!!

POTENTIAL LIVE STREAMING SITES

Each game I will post the links to the websites anyone mentions on the thread.  That way its easier to find the potential threads rather than scrolling through all the posts on the thread to find the ones where a link is posted.  Lets see how ths works.

Cricfree Football - stole this one from Larry on the Rangers board.
http://pilkalive.weebly.com - this one was mentioned  on the WBA forum.
http://fırstrowsports.eu - the old favorite that tends not to work as well as it used to!!

WHO'S THE BASTARD IN THE BLACK

Well I have done my due dilligence this week (lets hope the Thai guys have done theirs!! Thumb up ) and can inform you that the Referee will be Graham Scott, with Assistant Referees Danny Markham and Daniel Meeson and Fourth Official Darren Drysdale.  MS will hopefully give us the skinny on this guy in previous Owls games!!

Since Gingy took over as manager they have been better but still not that good!!!!

OTHER GAMES OF MILD INTEREST

Derby v Nottm Forest
Fulham v Reading
Middlesbrough v Huddersfield
Watford v Charlton
Wigan v Blackburn

Five somewhat localish derby's to pick the results for this week!! Whistle

THE TEAM

Not really expecting many, if any at all, changes to the team that beat Forest last week.  I expect Dielna to keep his place and I suppose the only possible changes would see Baker coming into midfield and Helan on the left but I don't expect it.  So its as you were I think:

Westwood
Palmer Looven Lees Dielna
Maguire Semedo Lee Maghoma
Nuhiu May

I will go one better than asking, I have added a section to the match thread where I can list potential sites where the game may be on. Of course we may not know until Saturday which ones are listing our game but at least there will be a place for all to check for links.

The bastard in the black or yellow, pink or green this week is Graham Scott.

He is another of the rising stars & his possible elevation to being a PL referee was indicated when he was given a PL match in November, Burnley v Villa, issuing seven yellow cards. His record this season is 79 yellows & one red from 26 matches. He has already refereed Bolton three times this season:

Brighton 2-1 Bolton
Chelsea 2-1 Bolton (LC)
Norwich 2-1 Bolton

Looks like there is a nice pattern emerging here.

Wednesday Matches:

April 14 - Leicester 2-1 Wednesday - 3Y (turned down two clear penalties for us)
Dec 12 - Cardiff 1-0 Wednesday - 4Y
Oct 10 - Yeovil 0-2 Wednesday - 2Y 1R (Otsemobor sent off, gave us penalty)

He does issue plenty of cards & doesn't mind a red card (issued four at Orient two years ago). He also has issued 80% of red cards to away players & has the highest percentage of home wins amongst current refs so may favour the home side.

Our overall record with this ref:

P3 W1 D0 L2

Nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so. For glory gives herself only to those who have always dreamed of her.
