Well, 'oooood a thunk it? After falling apart in the 2nd half last weekend against the worst team in the division (though showing more fight than some of our Terriers should be) we go and blow away the most in-form side in the Division. They've only conceded 19 goals this season - six of them against us. So we have the crazy situation where we've got 1 point and a couple of goals from two games against Wycombe, but 6 points and 6 goals against Swansea. Go figure. That's football.  

Before we all get too carried away, we're away Tuesday night against the side that probably has the biggest hex on us, especially at theirs, of any club in the Football Leagues. Direby have been pretty dire, even by their standards, for most of the season, but since moving Roonski off the pitch and into the dugout, they've started to put some results together.

Going into the Boxing Day games, Town were 12th on 28 points, less than two wins behind the top 6. Derby were 3rd bottom on 16 points.
Going into this one, we're 18th, on 36 points they are one place and 2 points below us with a game in hand.

Given their no expense spared and somewhat elastic interpretation of FFP rules, they should be in the top 6 not the bottom 6, but hey, even the best paid players won't put a full shift in if they don't like what's going on upstairs or around them.

I'd like to think the Doubting Thomas's (on other forums) who questioned Mini-Skanz's motives in apparently "engineering" a move back to Town from Direby enjoyed his goals on Saturday. I won't hold my breath. Another brace at Pride Park might also stick the alleged Roonski quote back down his throat.  Something about working harder in training?  

Strange that now someone else can take free kicks, corners, goal kicks, throw-in's, penalties, call the coin toss and receive every third pass, Direby have strung a few wins together? Surely not just coincidence?

Out Injured/Suspended
Toffo is no longer on his red card ban, but he's caught the injury bug going through the team, the rest of the long term injured and full time skivers aren't expected back for this one. Toffo has apparently hurt his back carrying certain members of the squad who ain't pulling their weight. We and they know who they are.

Back training but not oven ready/Back in the frame
Mbenza is under consideration, Hoggy got kicked on a calf and was being scanned today. He'll likely brush it off as a minor flesh wound.

We won for the first time this year, I might have mentioned this above. How did that happen? Expect normal service to be resumed shortly.

Derby is famous for Rolls Royce, Sir Frank Whittle (born in Coventry), making trains, er, Brian Clough, ummm, Nigel Clough (sort of), Francis Lee diving into the Baseball Ground mud for penalties, 4 lane roundabouts that feed into two lane roads on the ring road, traffic jams on the A38, a train station between Burton and Nottingham, or London and Chesterfield, ...... ummmmmm, not at all famous for musicians or bands that I can find.

Town have drawn the last 2 games at Pride Park, 1-1, the only points we've come away with. We didn't get much joy over the years at The Baseball Ground either. Town’s last away win against Derby County came back in November 1957.

If I'm being honest, we (English football fans) should be praising kazim-richards for being willing to go out there and play football in different parts of the globe, sure he's been to a lot of places to do so, but it's long been a criticism of English players that they are unwilling to go and play on foreign shores. At least they used to be, I think it's a huge plus for English players to go out onto the continent and elsewhere, one they learn and can develop, but two they don't stagnate and block other players developing.

As for tomorrow, a 2-0 win could see town shoot up to 13th if results go our way. Shows how tight this league is.

Not quite, but we do have set some new matchday rituals, like having pasties or Quorn sausage rolls for tea. A bag of posh crisps for half time and a cappuccino during the game. Sounds more like we're from the Executive Boxes.

Only 10k allowed, I think the supporters club sold 11k tickets(maximum allowed) for all our games at Wembley and I expect corporate and Media to take a massive slice out of the 10k

Then for our last game V Czech Republic its a full house because god willing restrictions will be lifted

Generally start on the beer some time between 12 and 13.30 to prepare me for the worst, it doesn't make the games look any better but I think its because I'm not drinking as much as a normal matchday. The hardest part is when we are playing crap and losing, normally I'd leave and go to the Ropewalk but the pubs are shut so i have to stay and watch the rest.

I have to say that i miss a fair few things due to lockdown but the only thing I miss from matchday is my mates. I don't miss being sat in the cold, I don't miss waiting for the bus because he's late again. I know 3pm KO's are a no no but i think Ifollow might just be here to stay for midweek games instead of dragging our arses around the country for a 19:45ko away to Yeovil on a wet Tuesday night in December

To be honest, a warm weekend in April doesn't thrill me too much about a trip to Yeovil either. It's down the back end of nowhere and if you do go by train, the station and the ground couldn't possibly be further apart for such a small town.
