Not sure if there is any truth or paper talk as he was previously managed by Allardyce. Would be a risk given his injury record, but would certainly give us a plan B. I actually watched Newcastle beat West Ham in the 1st game of the season and Carroll started that game and played well, so was surprised he was subsequently dropped. I wouldn't be opposed to it on loan as he's a lot different to what we have and could be a good foil for Grant if we went 2 up top.

If only there was a Plan A

I think plan A was selecting one of the 5 left wingers that Bilic brought to the club up top... Laugh

Andy Carroll would be a massive thumbs up from me, always been a fan.
Obviously injury prone but I'd take the gamble.

Given the financials (or lack of them) it all depends if we can ship anyone and how the loan market looks.

Looking at what we need, I think a right back and defensive midfielder are paramount. But Allardyce might also look for a left back, better centre half, striker who can head the ball. I mean we're really short in Premier league quality across the board if we are completely honest.

Personally think we will sign at least 1. But could be anywhere between 1-4, if we're able to ship some deadwood. 2 probably is a realistic prediction.

I'm in for a trio coming in and if anyone leaves additions possible.
A full back, Midfield monster and a striker - all guys with attitude.
If Sam gets the right guys in, don't bank on us getting relegated.
