Hause challenge was worse than Livermore’s.
Unbelievable. I despair.

How was the Hause tackle not also a red? It was a heavier contact than Livermore's red and was also out of control.

Yep, I have no problem with the red for Livermore, but for consistency's sake, Hause should have been off too. But I stopped expecting consistency in this league a long time ago.

Selection was as I expected after City draw. Sam pretty much had to select the same team to get everyone on side. Obviously this will change after results go south, i.e. now.

As for the game, we started slow, sitting off them with the intention of presumably being hard to beat.

Well that came undone quickly with Sam Johnstone up to his old tricks of failing to collect a cross 2 yards off his line. You do wonder if it's worth all the really good performances when you continue to make mistakes every time we face a team who put direct balls into the box. Then he turns his back on the finish to boot.

As for the sending off, first and foremost it was brainless by Livermore. He had been fouled by McGinn so just had to go down and we get the free kick. Instead he marauds into a tackle after the ref has already given us the foul with his foot up which can always get you in trouble, especially when it's Jack Grealish on the end of it. This is a guy who looks like he's been shot after being hit by a gust of wind.

That said, there was no contact at all, so it's never a sending off. Really have no idea what these referees watching VAR are looking at. I think a booking is absolutely right.

Then Hause does a tackle that is much worse, over the top with contact and nothing. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't think Hause's was a sending off either. But if ours is a sending off, then that has to be a sending off too. I really don't understand how the VAR seem to make their decisions. What is it based on? Seems the reaction only and our players are as brainless as ever, contesting nothing.

Game over now, so all we can hope is we don't fold like against Palace. At least it gives Sam a chance to look at the players. I'm sick of both VAR and our brainless muppets for giving VAR a decision to make.

Sorry to disagree Slick but Livermore’s tackle is a red. In the current climate, diving in and studs up will be a red card, even if you get the ball; the referee judges it as intent to foul. Whether any of us think this is fair really doesn’t matter. More importantly, all the players know this so why Livermore made that tackle is beyond me. He has cost us; we’re back in a Crystal Palace scenario, only against our biggest rivals. The guy is a complete dick!

Same Steve, Livermore's was red every day of the week, why the actual ref on the pitch didn't see that I'll never know Doh

This is humiliating. One shot in the entire game, Villa have won this without getting out of second gear. We are an absolute joke
