That's how you hold on to a lead Thumb up

Yacob = excellent. Thought Baird had a good game. Wisdom's decision-making and pass execution was poor throughout. Ideye I thought played well and showed pace and some good touches and link-up play with Saido, finishing still has a lot of room for improvement though. Other than that everyone did the job they were asked.

Hopefully we can build on that, we still need pace throughout the team and I think our build up play was far too pedestrian.

Ideye is so low on confidence, any other player in the side would have scored that.

I hope he's just a classic example of getting a couple of goals and we'll see a massive transformation.

Not really sure what to make of the game, of course the 3 points were very badly needed, but what did I see to fill me with confidence?

A great performance by the 2 CB's, Baird looked ok at times but poor at others. I suppose the lads across the midfield were OK. I thought Sess was good again not so much with his normal flair and runs but his backtracking and the way he was pulling players out of position. Berahino was himself and did the job. As for Ideye he got some time under his belt but I still can't see £10m, he is probably not razor sharp yet, but his strength and his first touch seemed poor, as for the miss the least said the better.

I was a little disappointed none of out new "flair" players got a look in but a win is a win and that's what TP was brought in to do.

A positive start to the Pulis Era. There are a few issues that need to be addressed but overall it was an improvement.

Everton away next up will be tough but I'm sure Mr Pulis and his coaching staff will have the players ready and firing for the game.

It takes time to change the mentality of a team thats been losing and to get your philosophy across
I think this win was absolutely vital nay imperative. We simply couldn't have afforded to even draw this game
Remember we've never beaten Hull in the Prem in 5 attempts so Hurrah for that. We've swapped places with Hull
and that looks a lot healthier. How well we played today isn't significant winning was and we did. Lets be happy tonight folks Big Grin
Rest assured TP will know where we are falling short and will address it either in the window or by working with the players already there
but that takes time and he's already stated he had more time with Palace and more time to assess players he needed in that window
This challenge he said is even harder but today I say was a vital start to that task Rolleyes

We got the necessary points on the board, which was what mattered today. Still too much huffing and puffing just to create goalscoring chances though, let alone actually putting them away. But for the gift Hull gave us with that backpass, the game was trundling towards a 0-0 draw (a result I'd have accepted as part of our rebuild, though many wouldn't). We really need to be active this transfer window. We still seem desperately short on quality, and though it remains to be seen what TP and the new staff can coach into the existing players, there's a definite natural spark lacking out on the field.

That said, MOTD will be something approaching enjoyable tonight, so well done to Tony and the team.

Vital win for you guys and a good start to the Pulis reign!! And as a bonus you managed to score a goal from that situation that rarely results in a goal - an indirect free kick in the penalty area!!!

Just back from game and thawing out. Not the prettiest I've seen but a massive 3 points. You can tell we're a team low on confidence at the moment but that will change.
Just like to give an honourable mention to Mozza - he ran his socks off, disrupted their play and dictated ours, excellent Jimmy
I can go a step higher than Aston Villa
