Live Football Streams
#1
I try to watch our games every Saturday via "Firstrow", but the livestream coverage has got worse lately. Some games, when I've finally managed to get rid of the Porn adverts etc, all I get is stop-start action: Albion are attacking the Smethwick - then the film freezes - next thing you know the opposition have scored at the Brummie Road. I seem to get more "freezing" than action!

Is everyone's reception as bad as mine? And if not, what can I do to correct it? I can try all 3 (say) Links, but I'm never confident I'll get a good Link.

(I don't like to promote these channels because, if they were perfect, people would stop going to the games at £30-£40 a ticket. I now live 270 miles from the Ground, so I can only manage 3-4 games a year).

Any help gratefully received.

There's a whole host of issues.

GENERALLY most streams are 80% okay, you will get a stutter every minute, or couple of minutes or so. It depends on how many people are watching, what their quality is like on the broadcasters, if you got rid of all those ad's okay! Etc etc.

There is a couple of things you can do to "Improve" your vieweing.

**Check your internet speed** There's plenty of websites out there that will check your upload / download speed (like: www.speedtest.net www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk etc etc) It would be nice to see what your speeds are to see if there is an issue there.

**Get a faster machine / better internet**. It will always be choppy if you have the old modem that dials through a phone and screeches... also if your computer looks like it should be in a museum, you are going to have issues. I know most people won't change either of these so I will skirt past it!

**Use a desktop PC** to watch it rather than a phone / laptop (unless your laptop is ace) you should have more power and ability in your PC over the other too.

**Have as few other programs open as possible** Try not to have any / many other pages open in your web browser, or other things running in the background like games, torrents etc (especially ones that require the internet) To get rid of these, open the task manager (Press Ctrl Alt Delete) go to the "applications" tab and "end task" anything you don't need.

In the task manager you can also go on the "Process" tab, and see anything else that might be hogging all your PC resources.

Finally, (again in the task manager - and in the process tab) if you find "Internet Explorer" or whichever browser you are using to watch the stream, and right click on it, you will get the option to "Set Priority", changing the priority to "High" if your computer is struggling a bit, this should allocate a little more of the computers "power" to that application and hopefully should see a marginal improvement.

Let me know if your experiencing further problems!

Bloody hell, Luke. Thanks, Mate.
I've got a 1 month old Fujitsu Laptop.
The Speedtest shows Ping 19ms; Download Speed 37; Upload Speed 9
I don't tend to have other Apps open - only SportsBabble(!)
I'll use the other advice on Saturday as and when.

Cheers!

Vipbox i've found is much better than firstrowsports too. Agree that an adblocker is a must
