Hibs v Rangers, 20 Sept, KO 12 noon

Well this is a Scot Prem fixture in which I would love to see Hibs "showing up" and really giving this Rangers team a serious game of footie because no Scot Prem side has actually done that yet TBF!!! I wanna see a strong defensive shape in JR's line up but lets have the "two up top" and test out their defence with the forwards that we have at our disposal. Again I wanna see Hibs focusing on Tavernier's defensive position which IMO is the "gateway" through their defence. Also give me an element of physicality on Tavernier and his defensive buddy, Barisic, on their left flank as well - they don't like it when it gets more serious in that respect. That should be part of a strategy to deal with their supply lines to their forwards - we need to restrict those "crosses" as much as poss! They have had to travel to Gibraltar and back as part of their Europa League commitments - C'mon Hibs, test them out and beat them!!

From what I have seen so far this season, I am not expecting much from todays game. Our midfield is weak, Gogic apart, and feel sevco will dominate. Giving their quality out wide , strikers and Ryan Kent it could be a long afternoon for us.

As 0762 says, their defense doesn't look that good especially down the left............but will we get in good positions to exploit this? ( having said that they are still to concede!) Our final ball has been lacking a lot of the time so lets hope they have been working on that in training. I like Doig going forward but defensively has an awful lot to learn ..........an aspect that Gerrard will have noticed and am sure will try to exploit.

I feel Ross will set us up for an Alamo, lol

Not sure about that team, I'd have gone with 5 in midfield the day.

We have a better record away against them, let's hope that changes today though.

10 mins in and you can already see we are too open. El rotundo just missed a sitter.

First Nisbet draws a great save from their keeper, then drey Wright pounces to put us in front.

Morelos is a dirty, cheating, rat of a player. Ably assisted by our disgraceful officials.

1-1 at the interval.

2-2 going into closing stages. We had a stonewall pk denied and Nisbet missed a great chance, but Marciano has made a string of fine saves.

Best we could have hoped for as they had so much possession. They fortunately were wasteful and Marciano played well........double save was fantastic

Stuck to our task well and had a bit of luck with the second goal.

We had a couple of spells where we played well and feel that sevco were complacent, especially when they went 2 . 1 up

Hate Morelos.

Gogic was immense. Impressed with Nesbit ( especially his tackling back) and Porteous.

Well done Hibs

Good game that. Could've gone either way. Marciano made some brilliant saves. Not sure what was wrong with the one Rangers got in injury time though.

Boyle got a fist in the face.......................similar to Hanlons in the first half for which he got booked...............sevco player got nothing!

BBC were also reporting a handball by Defoe.

I think the ref gave a hand ball offence against Defoe. But what about that stonewall pen against Goldson who really was "mince" in the last quarter!!? Indeed I didn't think Rangers were that good today esp up front! Gogic my "cult hero" again, my type of "wrecking player", and I'm glad Hibs added a bit of physicality to this game as requested in my OP. Two goals lost by Rangers, the first ones of the season conceded by their defence and well done Hibs!Thumb up Also praise to two Hibs CBs who incurred yellow cards in the 1st half - a big concern for me at HT and good discipline to see out the whole game without conceding a 2nd yellow esp when facing certain players who were "faking" injuries and conning this ref! Good to see Nisbet putting in a good "shift up top" alongside Doidgy and what a good scoring header by Doidge although I concede that Boyly was marginally offside - I'll take it because Rangers have been given some dodgy goal decisions v Hibs in past matches! Anyway, we didn't lose (I'd like to see a much-needed win v them esp for JR) and Hibs had a good "shape" and commitment about them, a good team effort, with Rocky absolutely outstanding - something we need to work on in minimising the number of saves from the "big man". Well done Hibs! Now we move on to Glesca and the other half of the OF. I think we have a chance after watching Livy's efforts v the Hoops at Celtic Park yesterday but it will be difficult.

Clear handball from Defoe. The offside was very tight as well, Boyle was moving back onside.

Overall we were well worthy of at least a point. Nisbet looks like he's gonna be a star and could have had 2 goals on his own and we had a blatant pk denied. Marciano had to make some good saves but you expect that against the OF, you need your goalie to do well.

I still think we let them get too much space behind us the day, and stood off them too much at times. Bet then again just about every time we won it the ref blew for a foul. That wee dick Morelos twice kicked out off the ball as well, good to see he recovered from his life threatening injury the other week.

They are pretty much the same as last season - good players in the final third but very poor at the back. I don't know why more teams don't try to attack them and get in their faces a bit more.

Boyd and Mccoists tears absolutely the cherry on top.

There's no way a linesman can give that offside decision. It's easy with slo mo, but in real time, with the player running back to an onside position, it's a fraction of a second in it.
