Well we actually played quite well for a while, which we needed to with this woeful team selection.

But defensively we just are not good enough.

Every ball in the air and we look like we're going to concede, summed up by Furlong turning his back for the goal and letting it hit his head.

Our players are terrible at sensing danger. When James picks it up on the edge, O'Shea needs to be sprinting out to block the shot. The outcome is going to be inevitable if you just stand flat footed and let a player of James' quality pick his spot. We failed to get out to shots far too much in the Championship and got away with it. At this level, we will get crushed if we don't defend with more desire.

All compounded by Gibbs. Absolutely moronic. This guy shows little desire during the game and then suddenly is so angry to do that off the ball. In his defence (only slightly, as his behaviour isn't very defensible) the referring is absolutely appalling. If the ref blows up for the foul and books James, the sending off doesn't materialise. It was a terribly late foul and the blind muppet doesn't even give it.

Looks like we're going to be begging for other teams to lose already...

Bilic really has to take some blame for persisting with 3 at the back. While Gibbs has lost us our chance of getting back in the game, we were already 2-1 down and being overran. I don't see the point in sacrificing a midfielder for an extra defender and encouraging the opposition onto us when our defenders can't deal with basic balls into the box anyway.

Bilic needs to learn and fast. I think the guy is out of his depth tactically at this level.

What was Bilic complaining about ? It's about as clear a red as you are likely to see !!

Why oh why won’t Johnstone come off hope line for corners. Button did. Not blaming him totally as the marking was rubbish but come on. There was loads of space for him to run and collect it.

Everton look really sharp going forward, wouldn't surprise me if they are up about the top sides this season.

Same players - same formation - same result.
Fair for 30 minutes, then the slaughter begins.
Unfit and mentally fragile team, I will say no more.

Agree
For the first 30 minutes we were very positive
However, stick to this formation against Chelsea and it will be 7

Isn't it a common opinion that its often pretty hard to play effectively against 10 men?
Everton seem to be managing it pretty well!

Seems like we're about 3 men down not 1

scoreline will suggest we got a hiding
we were well in the game untill Gibbs went stupid

but that happens when you are playing a side that ACTUALLY have strikers that know where the net is

we are crying out for one
