Deano would want nothing more I'm convinced than to off load his shareholding and become just a fan once again. Although he's publicly muted this/threatened, to the best of my (limited) knowledge, there is no-one on the horizon nor another local self made multi millionaire slaloming down the kilner bank dry ski slope to take over the reigns. Even Mr Sparkles from Ravensthorpe the 2nd richest bloke in kirkless is in the clink for money laundering n drugs at the car wash so that's dashed that till he's on a tag at least.
Our £4m loss per season probably equates to his 1.75% interest per annum on his junior cash isa with Northern Rock but he has other business interests, a family and the largest house in Upper Hopton to heat so why should he risk more of his hard earned, when to date he's sunk in excess of £20m into the club and its structure and he can expect to plough this amount in per season for the next 20+ forseeable years unless I win a triple Euro Million roll over ( though I'd fail the fit n proper persons checks from my youthful murky past).
Bad managers, bad signings have lead to this despondencey and disinterest reaching the current peak and I cant see a way out of it, except performances on the pitch improving steadily, preventing the types of recent norwich, Brum and Reading performances every 1 in 2 outings. Pricing for the floater / occasional has to be looked at for someone who just rocks up not having to pay out weeks in advance, the board want commitment thou the Take 10 is a move in the right direction. I just think there's too much TV footy on everywhere else, there's loads more in life in the 21st century to do at weekends than we had in the early 80's when I got hooked (bastards) and think we'll bump along with 10-12,000 crowds for the forseeable sadly and this debate will just be recycled again n again.
