By any chance would this have anything to do with the BBC not having "Rule Britannia" sung at the Last Night of the Proms? Smile

The thing with the BBC, it's like the left accuse them of having right wing bias and the right accuse them of having left wing bias. So they must be somehow getting the balance right. Whistle

The BBC are about as unbiased a news network as there is these days!!!! You should try watching tv over here where political spin is inserted into every story. The Last Night of the Proms thing is a non-entity to start with and Boris is just stirring the pot on this one!! They have said the choir will be back next year to sing Rule Britannia etc when social distancing requirements will hopefully be gone.

As Snoots said, they can't win and get criticized by both sides anytime they say or do anything. Having been away from the country for 20 years I would give anything to have a commercial free channel that actually makes original tv shows instead of showing reruns or other countries productions.

But I’m those 20 years the BBC has changed from being a news and entertainment service to an opinion service. It’s voice is very much ‘soft’ left and thus gets criticized by the right and the hard left (rarely by the luvvie Blairite left). Yes, news services in the US are biased but at least they don’t pretend to be neutral and I’m not forced by law to fund them.

The BBC are not biased???? hahahahaha

1) Did you see the interview of Nigel Farage by Andrew Marr?
2) The so called million people march in London to stay in the EU (all over the news) The similar march by Brexiteers a few days later - completely ignored.
3) The well  managed question time programmes where the panel has just one person in favour of leaving the EUSSR and the rest ready to shout them down. Not to mention the carefully picked left wing audiences.

I have enjoyed the last two years not having to pay for the utter crap that the British Brainwashing Corp. produces.
Now they want me to resume giving them money to fund the lifestyle of the Linekers  when I avoid their channels like the plague etc.
NO WAY .
I will join the other million over 75's in prison if necessary.

I don't 'get' the point of the BBC any more. The only reason it exists is to show neutral bias - but it doesn't!
BaggieSteve scoffed at 'cancelling' Rule Britannia and, I must admit, I don't pretend to be utra-patriotic like most of the Country. But it IS 'most of the Country' who are so proud of our heritage (except maybe for our colonial past). Rule Britannia reminds most people of this Country - pretty well - that we're proud to be British, and our aged War Heroes deserve better than to be f*cking "cancelled".
Cancel it when our last War soldiers have died at the end of the Century (say) but it's just 1 hour of TV ffs when so many like to feel patriotic.
Can somebody possibly explain why RB wasn't cancelled last Year, or the Year before, or 10 years ago? Nothing to do with the Woke Movement trying to tell everybody how to think (like Hitler or Mao) by any slight chance?
We pay £150 pa for UNBIASED coverage. Now we don't get it, cancel the fee and put all the useless totally-overpaid Presenters on the Dole where they belong.

I have a state of the art digital TV.
I have a professionaly fitted digital TV aerial system.
I have in line filters in my coaxial cables.
I also have apx 300 mtrs from my house a Ham radio operator with a 50ft mast. I have worked on HV radio systems and understand the interference these sets cause. When he is transmitting it interferes with my TV reception. But only the BBC channels broadcast on channel 43. I have complained to the regulator. They told me BBC are responsible for sorting this problem. I have complained to the BBC. They are not prepared to do anything about this problem. They state Ham radio operators are responsible people, and that I should ask him for a filter to fit into my system. I already have them fitted.........
Therefore I rarely watch BBC. Why should I pay a licence fee for something I do not want, cannot use?. If however I do not pay the fee I can be prosecuted and sent to prison, where incidently I can watch BBC tv 24 hours a day without paying any licence fee.

Rant over.

they have got all of us over a barrel
even if you don`t own a t.v but own a computer or laptop or a smartphone
you need a licence....why?
because you have access via these devices to live t.v broadcasts
now i cannot speak for everyone here  i don`t watch t.v on a computer or a laptop (2 laptops and a desktop i use)
and watching t.v on my smartphone?........i use it to txt ppl or make phone calls

now if there was something worth watching i would not be complaining
but paying the licence fee  so the good old beeb can continue to churn out such drivel like Eastenders  and that pathetic dancing programme
and demand i pay to not watch such crap well.........

i signed a petition a while ago demanding the abolition of the licence fee
only to be told via e-mail that scrapping the fee would result in the bbc not able to produce such high quality programming

i am really interested as to where this high quality programming is
period dramas?.........i get more drama when the girlfriend is menstruating
