How's that for getting it right. Thumb up

Hope you don't mind this mention 1996?

I think that many of us felt that things were just a little too cosy for the players with these assistant coaches around; good servants as they may have been to the club.

Strange isn't it how JP's views seem to have changed. Not so long ago we might have appointed Steve Sherwood but JP wouldn't allow him to bring in his own team and that proved to be a real stumbling block.
Similarly Pepe Mel wanted to add his own man to the backroom staff; a request which was denied at first.

I wouldn't be too surprised now if several senior players were also moved on to break up the 'trade union movement' that seems to have developed in the dressing room over the last few years.

The big shake up starts now.

It's tim Sherwood and we dodged a bullet there.

Wow, JP really is going for it this time!

For me this is the right decision, the 3 of them are clearly good coaches but they were not very good at being assistant managers which all 3 in the end ended up being.

I feel there are good times ahead on the horizon with a manager and a chairmen that aren’t afraid to make the big calls.

Onwards and upwards.

No problem, as you can probably guess I'm much happier and much more optimistic than I was when I posted that Thumb up

IMO any HC/Manager worth his salt will want and should have his own coaches/assistants in. Doing otherwise is a lot like electing a Labour PM but keeping (possibly far right) Tory ministers working for him.
They've all got to have the same thoughts about many issues, and to expect long standing coaches to keep adapting to different ideas as the main man keeps changing - well, it just ain't going to work is it?

One thing I'd like to question though is the apparent assumption (still) that there was/is a 'clique' amongst the senior players, and the coaches were too pally with them, making things too easy.
Seems to be a commonly held thought but I've no idea where this comes from or if there's ever been any evidence of this.....apart from one reference to something like that from Pete Oh De Wanker in one of his many rants. If he was saying that then there MUST be some truth in it, right? Whistle

Anyway - good move to clear the decks and bring in all TP's chaps.

As Ska'd says, I appreciate and acknowledge the work over the years but at the same time I celebrate the move and rejoice at JP's dramatic change in approach.

Could not be happier with what has happened over the last few weeks. I have never been as outspoken about things since the appointment of AI. I am looking forward to the transfer window activity and will stop moaning.

The future's bright - at last!

Bloody hell: Pulis, Jewell, Francis, Kemp and Nash. The players will be frightened to breathe. Whether there was one or not, any talk of the 'clique' is dead.

I couldn't agree more Stairs, however why now and not before when other managers wanted them out. Maybe Pulis had more nous than the others, or JP has at last seen sense. Laugh

I see what you're saying but it's good to have someone who will disagree with the head coach sometimes and challenge them, provided that they say it to the head coach. I still think it was time for them to go though.

The clique: I wouldn't be shocked if it's real or not because we have a few players that have been at the club awhile, who are similar and seem like they'd get on (all british) and there have been a couple of incidents. Also Kiely may have played with a couple of them and these players I've mentioned (the british ones that have been at the club 3+ years) sometimes seem to get picked without always neccesarily deserving it.
