However every "Employer" has a duty of care towards his/their/it's " employee". IMHO if he needs an Op & if his employer knows about it & it gets worse ( by playing him), then the Club could be in for a claim.
Maybe I am becoming a little bitter and twisted in my old age, but I am getting fed up of these youngsters taking the 'Michael' and the grumpy old man in me says, why should we pay for his surgery when he could do a Louie Barry in the summer. As for Ferguson, he wants and is entitled to leave, fair enough, but don't expect us to pay for his surgery to enable him to do so, let the club who wants him, pay for it. I have no problem if he is not even named on the bench, so no duty of care concerns, let him carry on with his £1200 per week, I am sure most of us could make do with that.
I'm with you Salop, I just wouldn't play him - with O'Shea, Furlong & Peltier we've got 3 more than capable full backs
