Pulis worked with a director of football at Stoke (John Rudge) so i wouldn't write him off just yet but he'd still want assurances off Peace regarding transfers etc. and that will probably be where the stumbling block is

If AI had any dignity he would do the decent thing and make it easier on JP by resigning. Lets hope he does or I fear he will still be here next month.

I fear that AI will dig heels in and stay there until dragged out onto the street.

He is not going to get a new management job in a hurry and so knows that a backroom staff coaching role will be his next role - he will cling on and hope for a turn around in fortunes.

But we all (almost all) know that this will not happen and he will drag us like a drowning man down with him.

Why JP does not see this and get on with a mercy killing is beyond me.

Not sure if this is the right thread but that 40/1 on Derek Mcinnes to be the next manager looks far too big, Ex captain and leader (just what we need) and held in high regard plus we have previous of taking a boss from the Scottish Prem and of course compensation would be next to nothing!.....Great price

The other 'problem' here is that AI is on a rolling year contract. By my reckoning, he only has about 6 months left anyway.
Will JP gamble that we will somehow survive with a few shrewd signings/loans in Jan?

This is the sort of 'gamble' JP will steer himself a million miles away from. There is NOTHING to suggest that the likes of Mcinnes would be anymore 'savvy' than AI is.
If Alan is going to be replaced then this is a 'one shot' only chance.

Look at last years fiasco with Mr Mel. We really don't want that again.

Hey - sorry and all that .....I know we're all entitled to an opinion but mine is that some of these posts are a bit harsh on AI.
I agree that it's time for him to go, but I certainly wouldn't expect him to resign - firstly he obviously wouldn't get much (if any) of a payout to take him to the end of his contract, and, as Stairs says he's not going to get another stab at a 'top' job for a long, long time.
If you couple these facts into the one that he probably still HONESTLY does think there's a chance that he can pull it round......well - would YOU resign??

I really can't see why there seems to be such a dislike of AI amongst a fair majority. OK he's not (in our eyes) doing a good job, but he's making every decision as he sees fit, and obviously believes it's the right one for the club. At that level you've GOT to have belief in your own ability and also stand by your decisions. IMHO he's acted professionally, honestly, and has never done anything other than his best. If he's out of his depth then that's the fault of those who appointed him, not him.

We all know how easy it is to be an 'Armchair Manager'....but this AIN'T Football Manager is it?!!

As I understand a 1 year rolling contract is just that. On day 2 there is still a year to go. So if AFI leaves on day 364 he still gets a years compo. DD
