I see GMac has called time in his career. What an absolute star and legend he has been for the Albion. Signed on a free from Ipswich and turned out to be quite magnificent, particularly in his partnership with big Jonas. I really hope the fans are able to give him a send off similar to those given to Jimmy Morrison and Jonas, he truly deserves one.
Thanks GMac, you were brilliant!

I remember the criticism that the club received when Hodgson signed McAuley on a free transfer from Ipswich in the summer of 2011. What a signing he actually turned out to be. A great servant and classy player who deserves a future at our great club, if he wants it.
Maybe he could become a defensive coach for us in the future?

Absolutely, Steve. We really took him for granted, but even aged 37 he was as good as any CH in the Prem.

Strange signing at the time, we courted him for ages! He went on and had a fantastic career with us and always enjoyed his performances, one of the better ones, wouldn't call him a legend, just a solid professional who I have massive respect for!

GMac was a fantastic servant for the club.
No disrespect, but I would put him more in the cult hero status then legend.
The days of "legends" has gone forever IMO, players now chase money and medals rather then loyalty.
