Who would have thought it. Drop the pudding and we suddenly look like a team? I have no idea what happened to Gerrard or where he was but please please please stay there. A win and a clean sheet !!!
It wasn't a comfortable win but we dug in and were the better team. Boden took his goal well and Denton made such a difference up front and in defence. We could have done with a second but it didn't come. Torquay were no slouches and had some very fast moves and players. Not sure who he was but their no 34 was like lightening and all over the park.
As we have come to expect the ref was awful and was ably assisted by 2 blind linesmen. The number of blatant handballs they missed or ignored I lost count.
Evans was captain and I thought did a great job. Rowley was as usual not marking and picking up their players and Evans didn't bawl him out like has been happening with Gerrard (its everybody's fault but his), he just went over to him and had a quiet word, not that it made much difference.
Maguire was my MOM,I thought he had his best game this season as did Evans.
The most important thing was that today for the first time this season I witnessed a team performance. It wasn't pretty but we actually battled and fought without rolling over and we showed some good touches. Rowley was actually effective going forward but he really is a waste of space when the opposition have the ball.
Have we turned a corner? Has Sheridan realised that Gerrard is a negative influence? I have no idea but I really do hope so.
Am off now on a long sabbatical so no reports until November from me. But I reserve the right to comment on a regular basis. I just hope to god the penny dropped with our manager today but somehow I just don't have much confidence.
