I think Mansfield largely cured me of it Salts. I used to enjoy "hating" them along with everyone else. Their every failure brought me joy. Then they failed so much they went out of the EFL and I hated it. I spent a whole chunk of that season rooting for them to stay up. There's no point having a rival who is no longer a rival; you need a very deep-seated hatred to be buoyed by watching your neighbour head towards what looks like his demise.

Unfortunately there seems to be a very strong streak of what I imagine to be Victorian methodism within the FA, which hates debt and disdains debtors. It has difficulty coming to terms with today's credit culture & a debt-laden world. I can see their point, but when probity comes into conflict with love, as an old hippie who is very much in search of his own hips these days, I'll still come out on the side of love. I can't help but be moved by Bolton fans cheering on their impossibly young team to hold out for a draw against another team torn out of the hands of its fans by senseless and uncaring capital.

6th game now postponed with the latest offer to buy the club turned down.
How long will the toothless EFL allow this to carry on.
Tonights game between Bolton and Doncaster has been called off by Bolton without consultation with the EFL and Donny. Donny only found out last night when a fan notified them of a tweet on Boltons twitter account saying the game was off. Seems Donny nor the EFL were given any official word. Bolton think their young players need a rest or could it be that they think after their takeover goes through they can sign more players and have a better chance of winning it?
The EFL need to get a grip.

The time when someone should have got a grip is long-gone. Sam Dale bought Bury for £1. He has a history of asset-stripping organisations. He has apparently had several offers to take the club off his hands but they all become unacceptable to him. Bury isn't dying. It is being murdered.

Bolton has been allowed to accumulate a debt that some small countries might envy. How and why? What are the authorities at, how do they think a policy of sit back and hope will resolve situations.

Step one - Mr Dale should receive a lifetime ban from any active involvement in football.
Step two - I'm afraid is that both Bury and Bolton have to expelled from the League, because I can't see any alternative - if football had the power to issue compulsory purchase orders with the agreement of the fans, Bury would be first in line.
Step Three - Would be an FA and EFL grant to help Bury re-form as Bury 2020 from scratch at maybe Northern Premier level. The club is not only Mr Dale's victim, but it is also football's victim. Everyone sat by and let it happen and then Plymouth, a club which itself would never have survived had the normal rules of business applied, has dived in, stripped Bury of manager, trusted staff and half its promotion team. (It really is dog eat dog, but it needn't be if football were properly and professionally governed).
Step Four - How to resolve Bolton, it seems impossible to me. I'm like the Irishman asked for directions who says, "well if it were me I wouldn't start from here!"

There but for sheer random luck go we all. I'm sorry about it. If it all ends for Bury on Thursday, that's what I'd call the new club, Bury Thursday so no one in football could forget. I hate it happening to them.
